Am having trouble with my husqvarna prisma 980 sewing machine withe mechanism that pushes the material further automatically as I am sewing.

The amount of pressure on the pressure foot can cause real problems. If you lower the pressure on the foot it is likely to work better. If this doesn't work try using another type of material. Some materials have problems because of being slippery or too thin. If this doesn't work check to see if the pressure foot is directly on top of the feed dogs. If it is it will need to be adjusted so that it isn't directly on top of the feed dogs.

How can I make buttonholes on this machine?

In addition to using the attachment, there are several other steps that have to be made on your machine. For instance, on some you have to pull down a lever; on others you have to set a dial, and sometimes you have to do both. That's why your attachment alone is not working; it's designed to work WITH other settings. You can get a free user's manual at, and for heaven's sake, use it as your bible!

Cannot thread my PC 420

Try to push the lever down on a very fast and hard punch. Sometimes that is the way my machine works. Punch it!

Crank does not turn smoothly

Stop sewing immediately. remove your work and locate the problem. This means you'll have to really study your machine. Look for thread bits, fuzz and oiled up gunk.... bent parts. If the machine is old the motor could be having problems due to neglect. Since we don't have ANY info on the machine I can't provide any specifics other than this.

Good luck

My singer 4423 is having an issue. the thread from the bobbin is not looping with the thread by the needle. If I feed some material through the needle goes up and down like it is suppossed to but there is...

Have you replaced the needle? Sometimes something that simple will solve the problem.

If you have changed the needle and rethreaded the machine, then take apart your bobbin and make certain there are no small pieces of thread or lint in it.

Check your tension. Do you have an automatic thread cutter? I had the same problem and it was because my automatic thread cutter was cutting the thread too short. Some how the cutter had gotten bent...I could not tell it, but it was.

To solve the problem i put the blade of a flat head screw driver under the cutter and GENTLY bent it back down. Fixed the problem. Works perfectly.

some machines can get "out of time"...the needle and the bobbin thread don't arrive at the right place at the same time.In this case you need to take your machine to a repair shop for re-timing

My machine isnt threading the bobin underneath.

Do you have the right needle in your machine? There are some Sergers that take shorter needles and I have has some customers put those short needles on thier sewing machine. If the needle is too short it cannot pick up the bottom thread.

If that isn't the problem I would also try to rethread the machine and the bobbin. It sounds very simple, but sometimes you can miss a step

If none of the above don't work, you may have a timing issue. Have you run over a pin? or had the needle come down on a presser foot? Sometimes these sudden stops can knock the machine out of time.

Automatic Threading

The tiny hook which goes through the eye of the needle is bent, broken or misaligned. Use a magnifying glass to watch the hook as you try the threader. Sometimes it may pass to the side of the needle and will need to be moved by loosening a screw and adjusting the assembly from side to side. Some machines don't have a screw to move. In this case you need to use a small screw driver to flex the hook to the correct position. Or you can buy a new part from your dealer for about $5.
