Kenmore model 596.52673202 refrigerator not cooling or freezing
I have checked and replaced condenser fan motor it was bad, replaced overload relay and capacitor assembly, compressor is humming but not starting up, I have checked temperature control switch working, checked all circuits on adc board by wiring diagram the only think that is not woking is the defrost terminator. the wiring diagram said when the contacts are closed there should be line voltage on the Orange wire and neutral at the adc board that is the only check that does not check out. Will the deforst terminator work if the freeze temperature is not below freezing.
Re: Kenmore model 596.52673202 refrigerator not cooling...
The defrost should be controlled by a timer every 10 hrs or so,it is usually in the bottom of the fridge by the compressor,it has a small motor that turns the timer, they burn out

Good day,
With that amount of info it would be hard to try to pinpoint it. Here's a list of items that can cause a refrigerator to not cool.
Items that will cause a refrigerator not to cool..... 1. Defective thermostat 2. Defective freezer fan motor 3. Defective defrost timer 4. Defective defrost thermostat 5. Defective defrost main heater. 6. Defective condenser fan motor 6. Defective compressor overload protector 7. Defective compressor start relay 8. Defective compressor start/run capacitor (some models only) 9. Defective compressor 10. Restriction in refrigeration sealed system 11. Loss of refrigerant (leak) 12. Excessively dirty condenser 13. Broken wires, bad wire harness connectors, ect. 14. Defective fan motor switch (some models only)
As you can see it could be one of many, many items. If your handy with a meter you might want to start at the bottom back of the machine where the compressor is located.
Sounds as if it is not running, or running without refrigerant in the system.
Also, if it has a cooling fan motor in that area, make sure it runs, since all fan motors are wired to run at the same time.
Good day,
An ice maker is an accessory. It would not cause the refrigerator itself to not function.
Here is a list of the major reason a refrigerator will not function.
I don't know what you mean by "broke".

Sounds like you mad have a bad relay or overload on the compressor. I would also check your condenser fan motor to make sure its running and blowing air on the compressor to cool it. If its not running the compressor may be overheating and shutting off on its overload. If the condenser fan motor is running I would assume that you would need a new relay and overload it will come in a kit. Usually it will make a clicking sound when the compressor is TRYING to start and then shuts off on its overload if the start components are bad.
Hope this helps _MJ_
. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on
and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to
start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload
relay. Check to see if the
condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no
check fan.
Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should
be warm

If the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running. First, answer these questions: Is the refrigerator completely dead? If so, see “It's stopped completely.”
The compressor
is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the
outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is
humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not
cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of
several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified
appliance repair technician for further help.
If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these: The compressor
The Thermostat
The overload, relay, or capacitor
The defrost timer
The condenser fan motor
The freezer and the fridge are cooled by the same system, air is moved to the fridge by a fan from the freezer, either the circulation fan is defective or the fridge thermostat is defective.
Check the back wall of the freezer for ice buildup.
If yes, a defrost parts problem.
Check the freezer fan. Is it running?
If no, replace the freezer fan.
Check the condenser fan at the compressor. Is it running?
If no, is compressor hot?
If compressor is hot replace condenser fan motor.
If compressor is not hot.
Replace the compressor start relay.
you probably have an defective compressor relay/overload
you can buy an replacement at an appliance store.
supco make them just ask for an relay overload combination for 1/4 1/3 hp anyone with some electric knowledge can help install it if it dosent start up, well bad compressor hope that this helps
If you still have this problem I would like for you to check to see if the fan below the refrigerator is blowing. This fan is called the condenser fan and is located beside the compressor in bottom rear under the refrigerator. If it is not running It may have a piece of paper or mouse or something lodged in the blade or it may just have bad motor bearings. If you use an exterior fan to blow air under the refrigerator it will cool again till you can replace the bad condenser fan motor.
