Re: How to extend a 4 GB SD card to Some 8,16 GB SD
I know of no way to increase the capacity of storage media. You can either replace it with one of higher capacity, or, if you want to get more images on the card, shoot smaller pictures.

Notes:
Most KODAK Digital Cameras are compatible with SD, SD/MMC, and/or SDHC memory cards.
Most current KODAK Digital Cameras are compatible with SDHC UHS-1 memory cards.
All KODAK Digital Cameras that are compatible with SDHC and SDHC UHS-1 memory cards use cards with Speed Class up to Class 10.
MicroSD and MicroSDHC cards with SD adapters can also be used in cameras that use SD or SDHC cards if the storage capacity criteria above is followed.
KODAK Digital Cameras are not compatible with SDXC memory cards.
1) This camera accepts SD cards up to 4 GB in capacity. Most 4 GB SD cards however, are "SDHC" types (check the label to determine which type you are using). If you are using a 4 GB "SDHC" card, it may be causing the problem, as it is not an "SD" card. Furthermore, any card greater than 4 GB is not compatible with the camera. Any SD card with a capacity less than 4 GB should work without issue.
2) Check the position of the lock or "protect" tab on the side of a compatible SD card to be sure it is in the unlock position. The camera will be unable to write to a locked or protected card.
The Z740 supports only
MultiMediaCards & SD Memory Cards. 4GB and larger SD cards are usually SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) types - and bear the SDHC mark on the label. These cards are not compatible with this camera. Use only MMC and SD cards. SD cards are 2 GB and under - although *some* 4 GB cards are marked as SD too; these cards may or may not work. If you purchase a 4 GB SD (not SDHC) card, make sure that it can be returned if it doesn't work reliably in your camera.
I believe this camera only supports SD/MMC cards, not SDHC cards. Go to the kodak site to see the detailed specs. Not all devices support SDHC - most new ones do - but some only support the older SD cards.
The original Blackjack will not recognize anything larger than 2gb. Sorry, but you just wasted buying those 4 gb. cards. I found this out the hard way too when I bought my daughter a 4gb card for her Blackjack. I have a BJ2 which will recognize the 4gb cards.
According to the manufacturer specs, only the mmc and sd flash protocols are supported. The sd hc protocol is not supported. There are some 4 gb sd cards that were produced before the sd hc format was produced (starting at a 4 gb capacity). Try a few different manufacturers for the 4 gb sd card.
