How the SMPS is working in telecom? What are the functions of SMPS? How it is Converting AC to DC? What are the parts are there inside the SMPS and their function?

smps involves ac to dc and dc-dc switching at high frequency because the type of a transformer in smps is a high frequency transformer and a current gain due to the ferrite application.to do a dc to dc switching you need a mosfet, smps ic e.g uc3845,dc capacitor and some passive components.

Powerware5115 will not switch on

A weak or dead battery pack its the main reason of a unresponsive/good health UPS, but never forget to test the electric cord, the fuse and the protective relay.first, this sounds too simple, but thats a common fault.

Battery pack must have at least 5 volts with half amp of current to power up the UPS internal relays, giving electric power to the main switch.

To rise the 12/24 DC volts to 115/120 AC volts, the UPS uses some electronic components (semiconductors) called MOSFETS , and sometimes, blown (browned) MOSFETS on the electric board are the most desastrous cause of a unresponsive (completely dead) or faulty UPS. (I remember that some time ago I see a TRIPP LITE SMART 1500LCD UPS with twelve blown MOSFETS, when happened, that kind of fault must be saw like a little volcano!).

If you know how to take all the safety electric measures, and how to use a portable voltmeter, you can test the voltage/amperage on the battery pack, the electric cord and the replaceable fuse (if has any). Basic and intermediate electronic knowledge is necessary to test MOSFETS and other electronic components on the circuit board.

Its not starts properly,my batteries are in good condition

Normally if this UPS is in working condition and the batteries are also good, you should be able to start the UPS by just using the battery cabinet. As soon as power is applied the fan must run and the 4 yellow led for battery/load should lit up. If it is completely dead, then a qualified technician will have to check the internal circuit. It has one main board on which all power components are mounted and a separate control board. Generally there is a 80/100 A than goes opened. I hope you can give us more information if the UPS is completely dead or the led comes up

I have a powercom (VGD 1000 VA)online UPS.All MOSFET (IRF 3710)had been shorted and DC fuse cutted off.I mounted all 6 mosfets and DC fuse.Display has been come and it gives out puts in AC mains but not in...

It sounds to me like you have a shorted cell in one of the batteries and the current limiting resistor on the charging side is out of tolerance (too low). Though it is more likely that they fail too high, they can go low in the event of overheating. I would check the resister with an ohm meter vs what is printed on it. It should usually be within 10 to 20% you can put one in series to limit the current, but you need a high current diode in parallel with it as no to limit the current to the inverter. I don't remember, but i think your model uses 2 12vdc batteries. You should replace all of its batteries and check the resister. Also, if there was a plastic insulator on the old mosfets you took off, you must have it on the new ones. this is to isolate the collector from ground. I home this helps,

Ryan

Power switch won't work

U may have to follow the following steps to detect the exact problem
1) Check the power cable convectivty from UPS to SMPS box
if this is OK then check the Fan of SMPS box and POWER LED of the cabinet, if Fan runs, and power LED lights, then u might have to check the Display. If display is not there then it might be the RAM problem
2) if u find all the proper cable conncectivity, then u need check the LED on mother board. but take this step if it is assemble system or if u have hardware knoledge or else contat the system vendor

PCB Fault?

dc power from batteries is switched (inverted) by semi conductors. this involves switching on and off the dc supply buss to create an alternating voltage. if the devices are blown then as soon as the unit is connected to dc the dc shorts outs and blows the dc fuse, this could be your problem. unless you can get a good power electronics tech to fix this for a reasonable price you should recycle this and buy a new one. in some ups systems the dc from the batteries go via a dc up converter which increases the dc voltage to a level the inverter will run at. all this circuitry is difficult to work on and almost all of it is controlled by logic circuits and software.

one last word
batteries are always live and are very dangerous, remove all metal objects watches, rings etc before handling, wear eye protection and take account of all instructions supplied .
with batteries if in doubt the don't work with them.
