The Apple id and password that Itunes had on file were years out of date even though I had repeatedly updated them. Itunes had answers that I never gave them. for example:mothers maiden name. when I a

You can call the iTunes help line, available through Apple.com/support It's a HUGE pain of a process but they have access to everything. If you are trying to transfer purchased content from a previous device to a new Apple ID though I don't believe Apple has cleared that process yet. You may need to just create a new Apple ID. That being said, depending on the type of iPod and what operating system it is on, restoring it should correct the issue of removing an old Apple ID.

Power it off. Open iTunes. Hold down the home button and keep holding the home button as you plug it in to the computer. Don't let go until Itunes pops up the alert about a device in restore mode. This will re-image the device. You will lose all content on it, but it will also remove any passcode or accounts.

If you are on iOS 7 or 8 though you will DEFINITELY need the Apple ID and password to remove the account, this was a new security feature apple pushed last year.

Why does Apple not recognise my email address to allow me to reset my password on my iPhone and iPad?

Apple does not make mistakes with your mail address, only if you are using a different address from what you gave them, they can't help you. To change your account settings, you have to provide Apple with all the data they are asking, to start with the Apple id and the mail address you gave them in the first place. And when you got that right, you can change settings.
You don't need an iOS device to contact them. iTunes on a computer (window's or MAC) will do. But iTunes should be connected to the same id as your other devices.

    Reset my apple id password

Since IOS7 Apple opted to implement a security in which when you reset your Apple device, the username won't d erase so that when somebody finds a lost Apple device or steal one, they can not make use of it. This is to force them to return the Apple device to their rightful owners. Saying that, there is no way to recover it if you are in IOS 7 and latest. But, she can go tinto a computer, go to icloud.com and click on forgot password, follow directions to change the password, instruction are going to be sent to the email she set up as her Apple I.D. Best of luck

    Do i need a i pad id

You will need an Apple ID to fully use your iPad Mini. You will usually be prompted to enter your Apple ID when trying to purchase content, install apps or update apps.

You can visit https://appleid.apple.com to set up an Apple ID or I also believe you can do it from the device itself.

    Hope that helps!
