40 HP 2 cycle outboard. Tilt works, but engine does not turn over. Yamaha outboard should mention.

So either the battery needs charging, the starter button / key are faulty, or the starter/solenoid is faulty. You need a test meter.

Testimonial: "battery is a year old, and I just fully charged it, so I think it has to do with either a inline fuse, or the solenoid. Boat is in Florida, and sits for 9 months. Just re-attached all the wiring, and maybe something is not connected properly. Tilt works fine."

    There is no inline fuse to the starter circuit as it takes too many amps. Check wiring, the starter wire is the thick Red one, then with a meter at the solenoid, and then at the starter. Sitting 9 months is not good. Mine sits 5, I miss the Lake, Ontario that is :>)

Will low fluid level cause power trim/ tilt go not hold position


Low fluid level will cause it to fail to actuate and not go up or down, can also let it not hold position as well. Filling to proper leevel with specified lubricant is recommended. If you allow the level to go too low, the pump will pull air and could burn out.

I cannot start the motor or raise the tilt and trim. Have power to the starter solenoid. have powere to the starter


check the control box , use multi metre and check the trim button and ignition key ! check main harness socket on the engine for corrosion or breaks in the wires !
