Your model is not valid. Belt is accessible on most whirlpool made dryers from the front. Top must be raised after removing screws under filter. Then front can be removed to access belt.
I doubt its the main board. Try seeing if the drum is tight and seeing if the belt broke by spinning it by hand. If the drum is real sloppy and you can't feel motor tension, you need a belt. I would rule out the mainboard until last because the belt is like 89 cents.

Belt come off/damaged? Same thing happened to us and the clicking noise was our shredded belt flapping around hitting the drum. see : We fixed our dryer!! so happy!! 1 Unplug your dryer to disconnect power to the unit.
2 Remove the screws that hold the dryer top in place using a standard screwdriver. The screws are located along the top and sides of the dryer. With older models -- 1996 and older -- the entire top comes off the dryer. For new models, the timer and console stay in place while the rest of the top comes off.
3 Remove the screws that hold the front panel and door in place using a standard screwdriver. The screws are just inside the door at the top front left and right sides of the dryer. The front panel on older models will move to the right side and on newer models the door will move to the left.
4 Remove the existing belt by pulling the idler pulley to the right. This will take the tension off the belt and allow you to pull it away from the motor pulley.
5 Install the new dryer belt by wrapping it around the top of the drum and allowing it to fall around the circumference of the drum. The grooves of the new belt should face down toward the drum. Rotate the belt around the drum to ensure there are no twists in it.
6 Connect the new belt to the motor pulley. On newer models you can access the motor pulley on the front underneath side of the dryer. Pull the idler pulley to the right and loop the belt around it. On older models you can access the motor pulley through an access panel on the back of the dryer. Pull the dryer away from the wall and remove the access panel using a standard screwdriver. Repeat the same steps as on a newer dryer to install the belt around the motor and idler pulleys.
7 Replace the front panel of the dryer and the screws that hold it in place.
8 Replace the top of the dryer and the screws that hold it in place.
9 Plug the dryer in and make sure the belt works properly before trying to use the unit.
The belt is on the outside of the drum and is accessible from the rear of the dryer. If you remove the access panel on the bottom rear of the dryer, you will see the motor, where the belt is on the motor sheave (pulley). On some Sears Kenmore models you need to remove the top cover of the dryer to access the belt around the drum (towards the rear).
