Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Thomson DT16300 TV Recorder Continually Freezes

Just got off the phone to TopUp TV and they knew how to sort this out.

Follow these steps

1. Turn on unit and press menu

2. choose set-up

3. then choose Help

4. On the help screen type the number 1397 on your remote - This will take you to an Engineer set-up screen.

5. Scroll down to option 7 (disable library video window) and toggle this option to "YES"

navigate back to your programs and delete the recording that was giving you the problem.

SOURCE: attempts to record onto cassette have failed.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, the reason for the 'Record' button will not "push down" is because the record tab of the the cassette has been removed. There are 2 of these tabs on both ends of the rear of the cassette tape. If they have been broken off, there would be 2 square holes. A workaround is to cover these holes with tape. Of course it is also possible that the metal tab pressing on these tabs are out of alignment (least likely).

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Sony ICD-UX70/UX80 digital recorder...memory full problem

If you press and hold down the "menu" button scroll down to the FORMAT selection and press enter. This will reformat the device.
I had the same problem - I think it arose after disconnecting the IC Recorder when it became unresponsive with the computer.
Make sure you transfer all your files first to a computer or back up source.

Has dish tv started to stop people reoding dvd,s of there tv programs

if your saying you have a dvd recorder hooked to a dish box and all its recordes is black then id say your recorder is either not connected proper or your dvd recorder has a problem
, me I cant see why you'd do this as dvd's need to be finalized before viewing , why wouldn't you use a DVR as they don't require any finalizing before viewing

I have an old record player. It was made in the 80's according to my mom. I have recently started to use it( it hasn't been used since 86). With the exception of 45s, the record player will only play side...

I must say I have never come upon a record deck that will only play one side of a good condition record!
The only action I can suggest is to replace the belt if it's a belt driven deck. Please make a note of how it fits before removing the belt. But why any record deck would treat a new record any different on one side than the other will be a mystery to any good engineer.
The only exception would be if the deck played one side good then played up on every other record. Till it's switched off for a while, then repeats this action.
The cause of this fault would be a part overheating the longer the deck is left on. When you stop it to turn over, the system fails. This is however more likely to happen on a direct drive turntable, not a belt driven one.

I have had the same problem with my tv recorder box. The problem seems to occur when the box freezes up when accessing the recordings library. I unplugged the box a number of times [be patient it could take up to twenty goes] and eventually I got a picture and sound. I reformatted the hard drive and the problem has not been seen since. I am a little paranoid about unplugging the box as I fear it will reset it back to the original situation. Hope this helps people.

On my free view box recorded programmes only play for 48 seconds then goes back to library page. sometimes picture freezes before returning.

have you tried formatting the disc and starting afresh as it sounds like the hard drive has become corrupted. Doing this usually sorts the problem out and allows you to watch programs again that you record. Please note it will erase all programs that you have on there!!!

ILO DVDR05 recorded DVD's freeze

Burn your DVDs at tow positions slower than what the system and discs say. It sounds as if there is a huge amount of error being introduced during the write process. Unfortunately, the old discs can only be recovered with an external program like Zero Assumption Recovery or the like....accordianman

Frozen hard drive

If you have a Thomson DT16300, here's a handy fix that address freeze ups, lack of reception and problems on your Hard Disk:

goto MENU screen
goto SETUP screen
goto HELP screen
At HELP screen, Enter 1397 - this accesses the engineer panel - you can reformat the HDD in this menu - you will lose all recorded programmes and planned recordings but it clears locked or corrupted files

OR - at the HELP screen, press the GREEN button

On the lower half of the screen youwill see 3 options:

Blue - Reformat HDD - clears all the memory/HDD - useful if you have a corrupted file - you will lose all recorded programmes though

Red - reset the whole box to factory settings - good if you have a locked box or reception problems or cannto scan for new channels. It goes back to when you bought the box, so you will have to input favourites and planned recordings again

Yellow - Software revert - allows you to go back to the previous software driver - you may lose new functions, but you can always restore it back again using the same feature

DVD Recorder

During MY long, intensive, painful research concerning the EXACT same problems, I've discovered that in ONE circumstance, these problems are caused whenever the recorder has INPUT (COAX, AV, etc), from a CABLE box!!!! Assuming the controls haven't already frozen, I disconnected the CABLE box from the recorder, and the recorder "came back to life!!!" And this, after bring my recorder in for "repair", THREE TIMES!!! Now, the only thing to resolve is: how to connect the CABLE BOX to the recorder--WITHOUT using any of the recorder's input jacks!!!! Progress, right?
