If you have been using your computer with the audio on full you will probably have blown the speaker cones. An easy fix. Add some external speakers.

Diostortion, tinny , on one speaker, Dell Hi Perfomance, connected to base box. circa 2007, amd sempron processor, 3400+1.80 ghz

If it's distorted and tinny, the speaker is probably blown out, if the other speaker is working fine then the computer is not at fault!

So, you can either get new speakers, or a replacement component for that speaker.

One of mine is distorting can it be fixed or can i just buy one speaker replacement?

I would rather advice you to look for a qualified technician to check where the distortion come from because it is not always come from the speaker alone.

you need to check for the filter capacitor on that channel, and going to the power amplifier. some distortion come from leak parts and need to trace that manually.

Putting Speakers in Door Dont Know how to wire them correctly

Wiring speakers with reverse polarity doesnt have adverse effects. It cant give distorted sound. Seems like the wiring from the head unit to the speaker might be at fault. For testing purposes, connect the speaker directly to the head unit, bypassing, the car wiring. If the sound comes out alright, you have to replace the car wiring. If it is still distorted, speaker might be at fault. Try with a different speaker.

Playback distortion

Good day sir, distortion can be caused by several factors, 1. overdriven audio source, try tuning down the volume to half. 2. the speakers are defective due to driver's coil scratching the magnet. need to replace the speakers, better swap first any good known speakers. hope this may help. if you may have any more questions, feel free to ask again. thanks

Distortion

Your speakers are worn if you can try someone else speakers. Speakers tend to wear out with excessive use particularly when played once or twice loud its a try that wont hurt at least for peace of mind you may need not throw them out.

Using dvd drive makes makes sounds

There is nothing wrong with your laptop. If you are copying a cd and trying to play music at the same time, you are pushing the processor power of your laptop or low on memory. When copying a cd it should rip it without sound to your hardrive, so i assume that your are playing music from your hardrive as well as ripping and this model of laptop i think comes standard with a 1.3ghz processor with 512mb of memory, which can easily be drained when ripping or burning.

Distorted speaker sound

It might be that you have a bad solder joint somewhere. Try shaking the speaker when playing, but be careful not to short the speaker wire connections. If it returns to normal at any point this is a dry joint somewhere.
