Everything works fine but won't manually turn off, but will time itself off.

There are two possible likely problems here: the joystick "key" or contact on the printed circuit board is bad/worn or the joystick is defective. The "key" is the rubber button pad that you press to turn the PWC on and off. This keypad is carbon embedded rubber that makes contact on the printed circuit board underneath. When these age or get moisture, the contact on the board oxidizes and the rubber becomes de-carbonized resulting in a poor contact when the key is depressed. Cleaning the contact with rubbing alcohol and a light scraping tool works sometimes. Replacing the keypad is a must.
If these don't work then you have a bad circuit board in the joystick. Either replace the joystick or the PCB within it. PCB replacement must be done by a properly trained electronic tech or Curtiss\PG Drives who makes the joystick.

The green and red keys on Verifone Omni 3750 don't function. I tried to clean the keypad with compressed air spray, but it didn't help. I would like to replace the keypad but I need instructions....

Replacing the keypad is pretty easy if you can find the part. Just take all the screws out, slide out the modem, and pop off the back cover. Then loosen the circuitry underneath the back cover. If you just wiggle it around gently, it will become loose enough for you to slide it over and remove the keypad. It's not connected to anything, it will just come right out and you can put in the new one.

HOWEVER - if your keys are not working, it's probably not the keypad. The keypad is just a piece of rubber. It's probably the contact that the rubber is pressing on. You will most likely need to send it in somewhere for repair.

Keypad locks up

It sounds like you might need a new keypad. Keypads can get damaged or worn out. They can also be replaced. I have never done it to my K1 but I have replaced a lot of Motorola V3 keypads. It is more affordable than buying a new phone but you will be without your cell phone while it is being repaired.
Sorry, I forget that I have always repaired my own and so I don't know how much a shop would charge you to replace it.

I have a krzr (blue) and the keypad doesn't work...appreciate your help. THanks.

Does it turn on? Are the other buttons apart from the keypad working? If so, then you may need to get the whole keypad assembly changed. You cant just change the rubber/silicone pads, but the underlying assembly as well.

If it is under warranty, I advise you to get it replaced. If not, then you will have to look for a local service center where they can do it for you. I'm afraid there is no other solution.

Sanyo CLT 947

Two solutions. Replacement rubber key pad membrane or re-apply conductive coating.

1) Call Sanyo and see if they have a replacement rubber membrane keypad for your model of telephone. (I replaced the keypad membrane on my Sanyo CLT-2430 cordless phone). In Canada, the Sanyo telephone number is: (905) 760-9944. Their web page is: sanyocanada.com.

2) A rubber keypad repair kit is available from MG Chemicals. Rubber Keypad Repair Kit 8339.
This kit is described on their web page: http://www.mgchemicals.com/products/8339.html

In Canada, this keypad repair kit is available from ElectroSonic. See a description of this kit at: http://www.e-sonic.com/acc/products.aspx?command=detail&partID=8339&partIDExt=281
In Canada, this keypad repair kit costs about $14.00.

It sounds like the keypad is worn out. The fact that you can get them to work sometimes by what direction you push on them, tells me that the contacts are not working correctly.

Did you have this problem prior to the fuse blowing or did it start after you replaced the fuse?

I don't believe the fuse blowing is related to the keypad problem. I also don't believe that you have a microprocessor problem because you say that the function buttons work but the number keys don't work right. If the microprocessor was faulty, it would not be able to read any of the keys.

The fact that the number keys are not working doesn't surprise me. When you go to cook something, you will press the number keys several times, while only pressing start or stop once. This is why your number keys have worn out first. These keys have a limited number of cycles (presses) and it sounds like its time for a new keypad.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good Luck!
