SOURCE: noisy water heater blower

It may just need a new pump coupling. Fairly inexpensive. I don't think you need to replace the whole burner.

SOURCE: motor in dimplex fire/heater not turning

Hello. It could be possible that a piece or some of the foil that gives the flame effect has fallen down on the motor, that creates the heat. This could be causing the noise. I would not think this is an electrics problem.

I would ensure the electric fire is disconnected from any power supply and either open the heater myself or get a electrical specialist to have a look. Then you will see exactly what is happening. A piece of foil may be visible which is catching the motor.

If you decide to tackle the problem yourself write down how to put the heater back together as you take each part out. These parts would be covers etc. It can easily get confusing. That is important.

The flame effect quit working in my Brittany Electric Stove Heater, Model #BESBY-1500. How can I replace or repair the flame effect?

Typically the flame effect is accomplished when a motor turns a rod with polished metal strips on it. The strips then reflect the light onto the back of the glass. The the rod rotates, the reflection moves giving the effect of the flames moving. If the lights work on your unit then the motor has most likely stopped. It would need to be replaced. A quick internet search turned up nothing for that company so you may need to go back to the store where you purchased the unit to get the part. Once you have the part, you will need to disassemble the unit. Some units are simple (like removing the fake logs) and some units are more involved (like removing access panels from the back or bottom).

Why does my sylvania electric fireplace Model S211 squeal

I had the same problem. If you remove the top row of screws on the backside of the unit, you'll see that the flame effect is created by a series of reflectors attached to a rod. Turning on the unit activates a motor that turns the rod. You'll see that the other end of the rod is just a loose end that is allowed to turn inside a plastic holder. Unfortunately, the rod rubbing against the plastic as it turns causes the annoying squealing sound. I solved the problem by wrapping a small amount of paper towel around the rod, pushing the PT into place inside that plastic rod-holder, and spraying it with a little bit of WD-40. I had to remove the entire back panel to get proper access. No more squealing noise (for now)! Time will tell if I need to reapply the WD-40.

Flame effect electric fire loud clicking noise

You need a new synchronous motor. This is the small motor which turns the flame effect rod. They are notorious for becoming noisy.

The heater is blowing out heat but the motor that makes the fake flames blow has stopes and is making this horrible noise. How can I fix it?

The rod that turns the bulbs, which makes the "fake" flames, may have gotten out of place and is grinding against something. Or, the shaft and motor need lubricating. You can access all of this, by unplugging the stove/heater and removing the cover on the back. Be careful when you remove the back cover, as the circuit boards and wiring are attached to it. You can only move it so far. If you see a lot of dust and lint inside, clean that out with a vacuum that has a hose and a brush attachment and a crevice tool.

This should help you get to the root of the problem.

Toyo stove laser 73 throws a EE 2 code and back fan will not come on.

EE 2 can be caused by a couple of things but is usually a fuel issue or a flame rod problem. The circulation fan will not come on until the burner has warmed up. The combustion blower should start almost as soon as you turn the heater on. Turn the heater on and listen for the combustion blower. If it doesn\'t start, do you get an error code? If the blower started wait for the fuel pump to come on. It will start when the burner lights come on. If the fuel pump makes a loud ticking or thumping sound, it isn\'t getting any fuel. Check the fuel filter and the strainer in the fuel sump. Make sure the valve is turned off at the barrel before removing the fuel strainer. If the fuel pump is working normally, does the heater light up. If it doesn\'t, check the igniter. You can check that first if you want and have a clamp on ammeter. Place it around one of the igniter leads and you should read 2 to 4 amps when you turn the heater on. If the heater does light but then cuts off after about a minute, clean the flame rod. Unplug the heater before removing the flame rod because it may kill the circuit board if the heater is plugged in and the flame rod touches ground. Let me know what you find.

I have mpi monitor e 13 keeps coming up

E13 means that the flame rod couldn't detect fire during it's 300 second cycle. If you can see fire through the window, start by cleaning the flame rod.
If no fire is visable after 300 seconds, feel the ignitor cover. If it is warm, check the fuel system, chances are the ignitor is working. If it's cold you have a bad ignitor.

GM 075-3

David, if the unit has an inducer motor check the flame rod to see if the flame hits it. There is a tray the flame will follow and it gets filled with rust and debris. Check your vent pipe for obstructions. Make sure you do not have a cob web in your burner tubes.
If it does not have the inducer motor, check the pilot assembly. Replace it if necessary.
