That is a shade on the low side, so if you are already taking any medication for blood pressure, go to the doctor for advice soon.

Otherwise if you have no other symptoms like fainting or dizziness, you should just ask the doctor about it next routine visit.

A single spot reading does not tell much, as blood pressure does vary a lot normally. You may want to buy yourself a home BP meter and use it once a day or so at different times of the day. That will give you a clearer picture. These meters are not expensive, and any pharmacist has them.

Nevertheless, the panel makes these general recommendations for people over age 80:
  • A target systolic blood pressure (the first or top number in a two-number blood-pressure reading) should be 140 to 145 if the patient tolerates the side effects of treatment.
  • Patients should not have a systolic blood pressure below 130 or a diastolic blood pressure (the second or bottom number) below 65.

What is the ideal blood pressure for a male at the age of 75

Any adult person should ideally have a B/P around 120/78. HOWEVER, it can be common for an older person to be as high as 100 plus their age. (ie: 175/x)

In EMS, high B/P begins about 140 Systolic. (Systolic is the upper number. Diastolic is the lower number.)

Most B/P medications work mostly to control the Systolic, but the
lower number is also more important than most realize. When the Diastolic B/P gets over 90, the body may not be getting "perfusion" efficiently. Perfusion is where the body exchanges wastes for
nutrients in the blood by means of the capillaries. In other words,
the body is just not doing a good job of 'feeding itself' and getting rid of the toxins in the blood.

Watch your blood pressure, and see a doctor if it is running high.
You should check with your doctor at least twice each year.

Quick Answer

To read a blood pressure chart by age, locate your age range, then view the corresponding normal systolic and diastolic numbers, notes Disabled World. The chart offered by Disabled World features average blood pressure readings for 14 different age ranges. For adults between the ages of 25 and 29, a normal blood pressure reading is 120/80 millimeters of mercury. Average blood pressure increases with age.

What does a blood presure reading of 221/ 91 mean

It's pretty high on both ends. If they are both close though, it can not be a terribly bad story though. 120/80mmHg is typical normal values. Be sure cuff is at heart level and stationary when measuring. Systolic is crazy high.

My blood pressure is 110/95 and my heart rate is 124/bpm. I am pregnant what does that mean?

110/95 Blood Pressure
Is 110/95 Good Blood Pressure or High Blood Pressure?

There are two parts or two separate numbers referred to as blood pressure: Systolic/Diastolic. If the blood pressure is 110/95 (110 over 95), it means that the systolic pressure is 110 and the diastolic pressure is 95.

110/95 blood pressure can also be read as 110/95 mm Hg, or 110/95 millimeters of mercury. The 110 mm Hg Systolic refers to the pressure in the arteries when the heart beats, and the 95 mm Hg Diastolic is the pressure in the arteries between heartbeats.

When determining if 110/95 is a good blood pressure, we looked at the American Heart Association's blood pressure chart.

Blood Pressure Systolic Diastolic Normal Less than 120 Less than 80 Prehypertension 120 - 139 80 - 89 High Blood Pressure
(Hypertension) Stage 1 140 - 159 90 - 99 High Blood Pressure
(Hypertension) Stage 2 160 or higher 100 or higher Hypertensive Crisis
(Emergency care needed) Higher than 180 Higher than 110
For 110/95 to be good, both numbers must fit into the "normal" category above. Otherwise, it will fall into other categories of High Blood Pressure.

Systolic reading of 110 is in the Normal range.
Diastolic reading of 95 is in High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) Stage 1 range.
Therefore, 110/95 is High Blood Pressure (Hypertension Stage 1).

Manual for cvs model BP3MU1-1E

fakonobea, it means pulse / diastolic / systolic. Pulse is how many times your heart is beating per minute. Systolic is the pressure when your heart is contacting; it is the top number. Diastolic is the bottom number and it is the pressure when your heart is at rest. Normal pressure is 120 systolic and 80 diastolic, or 120/80.

If you have further questions, I suggest talking to your doctor or health care professional, they will be happy to tell you.

How do you read a wrist tech monitor and what does the number mean?

The wrist monitor, much like ones in doctor's offices, reads your blood pressure and pulse rate.
The large numbers are your blood pressure reading. The Top number is the Systolic and the bottom number is the Diastolic. If you doctor or his nurse has taken your blood pressure and told you what it was, they said for example, 140 over 80, which on your chart would be listed as 140/80. The smaller number at the bottom of the screen is your pulse rate. Some monitors will indicate if the heart beat is regular or irregular. Depending on your age, general health and life style, a normal blood pressure would be in the range of (Systolic) 120 to 130 over (Diastolic) 70 to 80. But, your normal range may be different based on what I said above. Only your personal physician can tell you what yours is or should be.

When using a wrist monitor it must be properly placed on the wrist (1" above the heal of the hand). You must remain very still and try not to talk, until the monitor has completed cycling. Also, having your hand/wrist at heart level, helps to ontain a more accurate reading. Never take readings back to back. Wait at least 2 minutes in between sessions.

If this helped you, please be kind enough to let me know.

My Walgreens Digital Blood Pressure Monitor pumps up to diastolic 118-122 then stops and deflates and the screen reads Err 2. Can you please tell me what the problem might be? Thank you.

Your Blood Pressure may be to high for the reading. Try to adjust the cuff and restart. Are you sure it is diastolic reading and not systolic?
