SOURCE: Water heater leaking

Yes, you will need a new heater. The inner tank has rusted thru and it is way cheeper to replace the whole water heater than trying to fix the old one.

SOURCE: I have a 80 gallon Ge smartwater hot water heater

Normally no, but for a circuit breaker to activate, there has to be excessive current draw somewhere. Is the circuit breaker exclusive to the water heater? If it is then the heating element may have shoirted internaly. Fit a new element and restest. Don't forget to check the condition of your sacrifical annode too.

SOURCE: TRYING TO REPLACE MY OLD RHEEM WATER HEATER MODEL

I would say your water heater is from the fury series; new model number 82V52-2. I've included a link with my solution that you should take a look at. You could also look at water heaters of a different brand if this one isn't available in your area. Kenmore, GE, and Hotpoint are all very good brands of water heaters.

Keep getting a f9 and f10 code . how do we fix what do they mean

1) F9 and F10 appear to be element failure/ Call for service

http://waterheatertimer.org/Review-GE-Heat-Pump-water-heater.html#element

2) Copy following link for more GE Hybrid Geospring resources:

3) Call GE and they will tell you to call for service:
1-888-443-4394

4) 2009 service manual says you can clear fault codes by pressing Filter, Lock, Vacation button sequentially within 3 seconds. Scroll to clear all fault codes using arrow keys. When that is highlighted, press Filter, Lock, Vacation again.
Others report this does not work, so it may depend on model. Or maybe buttons need to be pressed simultaneously.

5) GE does not want folks working on their own water heater.
Do not buy expensive water heaters you cannot fix yourself.
Average service call for GE heat pump is $400 which helps defeat anticipated savings from buying hybrid.

Had to replace main board and power supply, now have a heat pump error. HPF code F4.Unit is 2 years old.

Type, brand, model number of water heater is not known.
If you have GE heat pump water heater, the parts are covered after first year for defects in workmanship. Otherwise the expensive water heater is not covered if it stops working.
The risk of failure is perfect reason to avoid expensive water heaters, because all costs are energy, and these units cannot guarantee longevity, even with correct and regular maintenance.
If your new laptop computer needs a motherboard, that's red flag that the computer machine will never work correctly again. Same is true for water heaters, or any expensive digitally-controlled appliance.
Same is true for tankless water heaters and hybrid water heaters and condensing water heaters and complicated solar water heater systems.
Call the manufacturer and see what they say.
Check voltage to unit. Make sure the unit is grounded.
Post question with exact mode and brand name on professional water heater forum.

Where are the heating elements on an 80 gallon electric water heater? Model number : E 2 F8 0 H D 0 4 5 V

I don't know that model number.
Tank-type water heater elements are located behind panels on side of tank.

Open following link to help troubleshoot electric water heater problems:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-electric-water-heater.html

The water heater label also shows element wattage, brand, voltage, serial number, and type of operation.
For example 5500W elements, non-simultaneous, 240V are typical ratings found on water heater.
5500 Watt would be replacement element size.
Non-simultaneous would indicate that both upper and lower element are not turned ON at same time.
240Volt is typical voltage for water heaters.
Serial number carries date-of-manufacture, based on brand.

Open top cover and push in ECO reset button:
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Jly-022-thermostat2-175.jpg
Find age of water heater using serial number located on label on side of tank:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/WaterHeaterSerialNumberDecoder.pdf

2) If you have tank-type gas water heater, thermostat is connected to gas valve, but you might have question about gas flame instead of thermostat.
Check manual, check flame, buy new gas valve at local home center.
Following link shows typical gas valve with brass thermostat:

3) If you have tankless electric or gas, the problem can be varied from internal to external causes.
Check manual, call service technician.

What years were the Rheem 81v40d produced?

You can find age of water heater from serial number located on label on side of tank.
Label also shows tank size, and tank wattage and element wattage

http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-at-bottom-of-water-heater.html

Serial number decoder:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/WaterHeaterSerialNumberDecoder.pdf
For example Rheem serial number 0790...
First 2 digits are month 07 July
Next two digits are year 1990

Rheem site does not show 81v40d

The reset button has popped more then once.

You have electric water heater.
Electric water heaters are fully repairable by homeowner.

Reliance is AO Smith company
http://www.aosmith.com/OperatingUnits/Detail.aspx?id=138&ekmensel=c580fa7b_12_0_138_3
http://www.reliancewaterheaters.com/prod/elec.html

Age of Reliance water heater is shown on serial number located on side of tank:
first digit is letter. Next two digits are numbers: for example C06 means 2006.
Serial number also shows model number & wattage of elements in case you need new element from hardware store.

ECO reset button trips when upper thermostat senses temperatures higher than 150 to 180 degrees.
When ECO energy cut off trips, it turns off power at the reset button, so the tank does not continue overheating.
Tripping reset button says tank is receiving electricity, so we can eliminate that suspect.

There are 4 reasons why ECO will trip.
1) Bad upper or lower thermostat: solution replace both thermostats for about 25$. Steps shown in link below.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-thermostat-on-electric-water-heater.html
2) Loose wire or shorted wire at or near upper thermostat: Open covers on water heater and inspect parts for signs of high heat and burning.
3) Bad element shorted to ground in center of element: Solution test elements and replace defective element.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-test-water-heater-element.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-water-heater-element.html
4) Factory-installed insulation and cover has been removed from tank: thermostat exposed to cooler temperatures, and misreads tank temperature, and then elements keep heating water.

If you want to test all the parts before replacing anything:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-electric-water-heater.html

Thermostats are generic, and each functions same way and each can replace the other.
Same is true for both upper and lower thermostats

Rheem warrior glass serial num-rh1098154699 model num-71-40d b That is all the information i collected off my hot water heater we have no hot water at all and i dont know how to fix this problem...

The label would also say if water heater is gas of electric.
That would be helpful information that could lead to troubleshooting.
Serial number tells us water heater was made on Nov 1998, which tells us the manual will not be on the Rheem website.

So if you have electric water heater, and no hot water.
There can be 4 causes.
1) Circuit breaker is not delivering 240 to water heater. Test top two screws on upper thermostat to see if tank has 240V.
2) ECO red reset button is tripped. Open top cover on tank and push reset button.
3) Upper thermostat is bad. Replace thermostat.
