check that the rocker switch inside isn't stuck, when the rocker swings it shuts the unit off. if it is full of dust it may be stuck. may just be bad.

SOURCE: HF 8 Space heater with a bad switch

If you locate and procure a switch, you can more than likely replace it yourself. Get a switch of like and you can see what you have to deal with, Always disconnect the electricity before you work on it Good Luck. It really isn't a big deal to do.If you can take and send pics by e-mail I can walk you through. Co7196@yahoo.com

SOURCE: Patton PRH11 Buzzer Sounds on HIGH after 2 minutes

There is a round sensor under the heating elements which sets off the alarm when it thinks it is overheating on the PRH11. Unfortunately, a dirty sensor will fool it into reacting like it is overheated. I cleaned the sensor which was dark and revealed it to be a lighter goldish maybe brass in its original color. If your sensor is dark, it will continue to trip the alarm for overheating and will need to be replaced. If you were lucky like I was and can clean it, the problem should be resolved and it will operate like normal until it gets dirty again. This procedure lasted for 3 days and I had to clean it again. I believe I left the dirt on too long and now my sensor has tarnished plus I live in a rural area with significant dust requiring this recleaning every few days. I only used a damp paper towel with water to clean. Cleaning may work better with alcohol or a tarnish removal solution.

Will the patton electric heater significantly raise my electric bill

1500 watts is 1.5 kilowatts. Run it for 1 hour and you have 1.5 kilowatt hours. My electricity costs .08 per kilowatt hour so, when I run my 1500 watt space heater, it costs me a whopping .12 per hour to operate. I can afford 12 cents per hour, compared to oil at $3.50 per gallon and a burner that burns up to 3 gallons per hour.

These have poor quality safety parts that fail in about 1 season or less, the failure rate for these little cheaper units is high, go Honeywell next time!

Space heater will power up, but not start,

These fans have a safey feature (sensor) that shuts the heater off if it is tipped over. It sounds like this component is not functioning correctly - may be set wrong and will not allow the heater to turn on unless you shake it to reset the sensor. If it is still under warranty return heater, if not call Patton and ask for help.
