SOURCE: my remote for the harmony 550 says welcome to

First I would check to see if any of your buttons are sticking. I have found that this is a common problem with the 550 remote. I really like this remote but if nothing works check your buttons to see if any are pressed under the plastic. This remote can only work one button at a time so if one is being pressed it will not work.

Testimonial: "Excellent! It works, many thanks for your help"

SOURCE: display on remote is not working, how do I reset

1. Remove the battery, press and hold the 'OFF' button, and re-insert the battery. The screen will display 'Safe Mode!', or the 'Activities' button will be lit.
2. Connect your remote to the computer.

3. Launch the Harmony Remote Software, and log in.

4. Click "Downloads" at the top and click "Firmware".

5. The remote will go through the firmware update.

6. Select "Yes", and click NEXT to update the remote.

If that does not get the screen working, then it is something with the hardware that is defective. If this is the case, I would email Logitech.

How do I bypass the soft power on switch on the friont of the computer

Actually it never depends k_akima

The Green - Soft Power On wire is jumped to ANY Ground wire.

Doesn't matter if it's a 20-pin ATX main power cable, or a 24-pin ATX main power cable.

If the Power Supply is an AT style, and not an ATX style, the question is redundant anyway. AT style doesn't have the Soft Power On feature.

John,
The eMachine EMonster 500a uses a TriGem - Napoli 2A motherboard,

http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/motherboards_d/Trigem/Napoli%2B2A/

The main power cable is a 20-pin ATX main power cable.
General example of power cable, and it's respective connector on the motherboard,

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#atxmain20

In the photo to the right, the Green wire is the Soft Power On wire.
A-N-Y Black wire you see is a -> Ground wire.

The preferred jumper wire is a paperclip straightened out, then bent into a U-shape.

Turn the U-shape upside down. The top is wrapped a few times with black plastic electrical tape. This taped area is for your fingers, and thumb to hold onto.

The 'legs' are what is used. They go down into the socket holes, in the back of the 20-pin ATX main power cable's connector.

The back of the connector is where the wires go in.
Power cable is plugged into motherboard, as shown in the photo to the far right.

One 'leg' of the jumper wire slides right down into the socket hole, with the Green wire.
Slides RIGHT NEXT TO the insulation of the green wire, and touches a metal terminal down in the bottom.

http://www.molex.com/molex/products/datasheet.jsp?part=active/0002081202_CRIMP_TERMINALS.xml&channel=Products&Lang=en-US

The tip of this female metal terminal can be seen in the middle photo.
20 metal terminals, 20 tips seen.

For this reason, the 'leg' of the jumper wire must go down into the socket hole, pretty far.
MUST touch that metal terminal.

The other leg of the jumper wire goes down into a socket hole, with ANY Black wire in it. Again, ALL Black wires are Ground wires.
(Green wire = 5 Volts, or Positive wire.
Black wire = Ground wire, or Negative wire )

The contact made is 2 seconds. The Power On switch is a Momentary Contact Switch.

Power Supply comes on you have a bad Power On switch.
Power Supply does Not come on you have a bad Power Supply.

joecoolvette

Cp9430r

Fixed Hunter ceiling fan with remote light pin out wiring 9 wire plug search words
Hunter Ceiling Fan with remote, fails to turn on light, fails to turn on fan..remote receiver is Cp9430r
1) Test your remote, Hunter uses Radio Frequency remote, point RF remote one inch from antenna of working AM radio, press each button on remote, each button will produce static sound from AM radio, if no sound..check battery wiring or solder connection on loop antenna of remote. If no sound on one or more buttons, disassemble and wash key pad with dish soap, rinse and fan dry, retest. If still one button no work apply graphite paint to button to rebuild conductivity of button.
2) Cp9430r receiver is below fan and above light. Remove light assembly, check receiver dip switches, mine was #5 On 1~4 Off, check remote control dip switches in 9v battery compartment also set #5 On 1~4 Off, new 9v battery still no Fan reversal "click" sound heard coming from the large Blue fan reversal relay located inside the Cp9430 receiver. All other buttons control transistors and will make no sound even if they are working.
3) Disassemble / unplug 9 wire plug from Cp9430r receiver, place receiver on wooden table, 9 wire plug has two empty pin squares, one empty in the center, the other empty we will call #1 ..counting clockwise #2,#3...#4,#5..#6,#7and finally top center next to empty #1 is #8. Now #8 is 110v hot/black ...& #4 neutral/white.
4) Shock Danger..carefully apply ac volts to pins #8,#4 use tape if needed, locate quad operational amplifier i call it radio receiver chip HA17324 on board, google HA17324 Datasheet, locate leg #14 it is across from leg #1. Locate small yellow ceramic capacitor very near leg #14, use capacitor's neg as neg for voltmeter, test volts at #1,#7,#8 and #14. My #1 was 3.1v, #7 3.2v, #8 3.25v and #14 .01v ...why #14 so low? I monitored each leg while pressing remote control buttons...no changes. **Desperate, I sparked (1/2 second or less) #14 with 3.14v from positive leg of yellow capacitor** and retested all legs, no change except now #14 rests at .02v and jumps to 2.5v~2.8v when any button on the remote is pressed then rests at .02v. Now Lights work, Fan speeds work, Reverse rotation Works :-)
Pin Out on 9 wire plug, #1 Empty pin, #2 Alternates w up/down fan rotation, #3 goes to 5uf fan capacitor other side of cap goes to white/neutral AC Line, #4 AC Line neutral, #5 goes to Triac? speeds? , #6 Alternates up/down fan rotation goes to up/dn blue relay, #7 goes to up/dn blue relay looks to be AC hot looking for fan probably paired with #3 changing sides at up/dn blue relay, #8 AC Line hot in. Why did **sparking** work, smarter people might know, i think a small spark got stuck in the chip and sparking helped the chip release it out. No electrical education, novice. Jer. 51 8,9 and 11

Hey Ryno4606,

It is possible, while rare, for a remote to no longer be programmed to the receiver after a reset. To fix that a simple readdress should fix the problem. I have provided the steps below to assist you with that!

Addressing Remote to Receiver:

1.) Go to System Info screen.
2.) Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
3.) Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
4.) Press the pound (#) button.
5.) Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.
6.) Test remote and see if works.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Tempur-pedic remote control does not work have put in fresh batteries - control lights up- but no bed movement Please advise Thank You Carol

If the solution posted by Susan R. (below) fails to work, locate the black power down box under the bed. Check the battery compartment and remove all batteries. If batteries are installed they will prevent a full reset of the box. Unplug the power cord, wait 45 seconds and plug the power cord back in to reset the electronic components. Replace batteries. Now that the error has been wiped from the box's memory, you can now synchronize your remote with the power down box using Susan's instructions below. - Mike V., Antioch, CA

"Locate the power down box for the bed and press the "learn button" for 1 second and release (Black box under the bed). On the hand control, simultaneously press and hold the position 1 and off buttons. The transmission indicator light will flash slowly and then flash rapidly. Continue to hold for 5 seconds and then release the buttons. It should now work! Enjoy. Susan R., Paducah, KY"
