SOURCE: I have a auto chlor model a4 dishwasher and when I

The Auto-Chlor A4 dish machine requires that you push and hold the Fill switch until the water reaches the desired level. There are several reasons that the machine does not refill for the rinse part of the cycle. It could be a defective fill switch on the 90 sec. timer which is located in the box that is down by the pump. This switch gives power to water inlet valve while the switch actuator is in the valley of the adjustable cam. Also, the drain solenoid might be sticking in the up position allowing the rinse water to drain from the sump. There is not a float or a water level sensor in this machine.

Hi John,

This sounds like a misadjusted water level sensor. This is a commercial dishwasher but the principles are the same. I would check the water level sensor to make sure that there is no debris under it or a leveling sensor bent causing the machine to think it is at the proper water level to begin washing when it is not. This may be a mechanical lever float type switch or an actual electronic sensor that will detect where the water level is. Most household DW's will have the mechanical float switch that will float with the water level and shut off the fill solenoid when the proper level is reached. You are having to defeat this process by holding the button in to override either a faulty sensor (replace it) or a misadjusted float switch. These would be the too most likely causes of this problem. I hope this helps!

Washer will not fill with water when the start button is pushed.

Have you checked the water pump? I would say it is that or the button may be defective.

Dishwasher fills with water... wont wash

usually if the motor is not kicking in then it is a blocked/seized wash motor or a broken wire somewhere from the timer to the motor. either will mean a stripdown. try checking out the motor first.
