The problem might be the gearbox. I know because I have the same problem.  Keys fitness is out of business, but "The Treadmill Doctor" has purchased the inventory of parts for the bikes. They will help you troubleshoot, and have parts available if you need them. The number is 1-888-340-0482. Or, you can go to

SOURCE: Life fitness recumbent bike problem

We had exactly the same thing. If you take the covers off you will find a black battery pack in the bottom. It is about the same size as a cordless drill battery. We got a replacement from Maplins - cost about £10. It works perfectly now.

SOURCE: Our life fitness 9500hr recumbent bike stopped working

If this unit has not been used for that period of time then the 6v batt has died ans needs replacing call National Gym Parts @ 1-800-496-7278 to order part# LC001.5
Tilt the bike on its side, remove mounting screws securing the battery to the bracket. Remove the battery just enough to access and disconnect the black (neg) wire from the (-) terminal and the red (pos) wire form the (+) terminal. Replace battery and reverse procedure when installing battery

Does the seat recline?

If it reclines there is a handle to release it, does it have one? If not it doesn't recline.

No, don't spend any money in "guessing".
This is not a "that" difficult case to point out the failure, I'm sure almost any mechanic can figure out the problem for a few bucks... then you still can invest some money into the RIGHT part...

How can I fix the slippage in my Schwinn 215 recumbent bike pedal?

Problem is in the back wheel or the "freewheel" The replacement of this part is recommended but it requires special tools. Take your bike to the local bike shop for this problem.

We just received our bike and it is very difficult to pedal. There also isn't a change when we change from level 1 to 16. Is there something we can do to fix it?

If the upper console time, speed, and calories then usually the lower board or a mechanical hang up may cause these problems. To eliminate the mechanical remove the upper console and disconnect the terminal cable now start pedaling if their is no resistance and pedaling has become easy it could be the lower board if not and the resistance stay the same then the mechanical resistance is stuck. You will need to call the manufacturer if their is not a local servicer for this product.

There are most likely some sort of bearings inside the wheel hub that are causing this.

No resistance when I pedal the stationary exercise bike

I looked into this thinking is must be a simple belt, or tention wheel, but these devices are much more complex than the average exercise machine. See the Recumbent selection here.

It appears that the tentioning device is a magnetic brake.
This would require that it be plugged into a power source and programmed to provide a desired tention.
I've never used one of these so I can't say what kind of programming options there are or where they are found.

Hope this helps.
