Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. How do i change the battery for the RTI universal remote... i believe it is the battery because it does not hold a charge. And if I change the battery does the remote keep what has been programmed in it....

The remote keeps it's memory in a non-volatile memory chip which is unaffected by power loss. So changing the battery is safe. The replacement batteries can be ordered from your RTI dealer for $45. Be careful with a T1 battery connector, they are delicate and can pull away from the board leading to an expensive repair. I'd suggest taking the remote to your dealer and have them replace it for you.

Can?t get the back cover off rti T2+ remote control. Need to reattached power plug to circuit board. All screws have been removed seems board snaps in. Any suggestions?

If your talking about the battery cover then you just need to apply pressure to the battery cover near the seam and pull down with your other hand near the bottom of the remote near the battery terminals. If the battery inside has puffed up then the battery cover may be under stress and very hard to remove.

Rti remote doesn't work properly

The best advice I can give you is to contact Total Control Remotes ( or They are an authorized RTI dealer and specialize in programming RTI remotes and all related equipment. Not only is the customer service excellent, but the pricing is great. They will get you back on your feet in no time. You should not let a control system of this type go wasted.
