canon PowerShot A530,Sandisk 8GB card - it's got to be something simple - I have come across many instructions in the manual that lead me to believe it can't be done in a certain "mode". It says "memory card locked", I don't remember having such a problem with this before.

If the camera is not rated for SDHC memory cards then it is not a fit for the camera, check your owners manual.

How do i erase memory card

The memory card should be formatted each time you finish downloading your pictures from it. This will erase all files, including protected files. Unlike deleting each file individually, it will also clean up the directory and allocation tables, preventing potential problems.

Press the HOME button to bring up the main menu. Touch the Setup icon to bring up the Setup menu. Touch the down-arrow as necessary to get to Format, then touch the Format icon to bring up the Format menu. Touch the left-arrow to select OK, then press Menu/OK to confirm. When it asks if you want to format, use the arrows to select YES, then press Menu/OK.

Fuji FinePix S2 Pro New 4 Gb disk in cam prompts msg ''Card not initialzied.'' Have tried many things. None work. Help.

Hi,

Go into menu and try to format memory card. Most cameras can just use card right from package without format.Formatting will delete all pics if any available. This is the only solution for your problem.
This is the procedure,In playback mode on the camera (green arrow on selector switch - or middle option if the legend has worn off) press menu/ok -> select format -> menu/ok ->menu/ok to confirm
Any pictures on the card will be lost.

Thank you !!

Memory card needs formatted is displayed on the screen. Deleted the pictures and it still comes up. Tried to take more pictures and the memory card would not hold. Is there something wrong with the camera...

I assume you have an SD card. If it's bigger than 2GB then it's actually an SDHC card and will not work in the ZD710.

No, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong. The card just needs to be formatted. In any mode press the Menu button. Press right-arrow to select the Setup tab (camera and wrench) then press OK. Press up/down-arrow to select "Format" then press OK.

Make sure you format the memory card. It's okay to format the internal memory, of course, but your current problem appears to be that the card needs to be formatted.

Sounds like you will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Menu button - right arrow to Mode Menu - down arrow to Card tab - right arrow to memory/format- right arrow to format option. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear all the images from the card and then it can be used again.

First off did you format ur memory card? Casio only has 3 brands of memory cards they have tested their cameras with....Sandisc, Toshiba, and Panasonic. The exz600 can take up to a 2 GB card from those manufacturers with no problem. I would make sure that your mem card is formatted. If it is, try a different card. If you don't care about the pics that are stored on your internal mem then you can format your camera, put in a new mem card and then format that. You always have the option of transfering the pics to ur computer first before formatting. After formatting make sure you reset your camera also. Format: in REC mode press menu go to setup tab go up to format press right arrow make sure format highlighted and press set Camera will say "busy please wait" Reset: In REC mode press menu go to setup tab go up to reset press right arrow make sure reset is highlighted & press set.
