The printer kept getting no black on the print unless I cleaned the printhead 2 times. I changed the print head cartridge and it printed fine for about a day. Now it won't print at all and it gives the message that the b/y printhead 'has a problem'. It won't perform any other functions either like scaning or faxing while this problem persists

How old?Less than 13 months? Call HP and complain of short service life and your steps so far.

The ink would have no impact on the error that you are receiving...the error is directly related to an electrical issue with the printhead...contact either the supplier that you bought the printhead from, or HP directly...

Most generic inks will not work in this machine, If you are using genuine HP ink, you have gotten a bad printhead, if you are using generic ink you may have just ruined a new printhead.
