SOURCE: Both the LAMP/COVER and FAN/TEMP indicator lights come on, not blinking

with both lights solid. according to the manual all it says is (there is an electrical failure inside the unit, please take to an authorized servicer). if you are able to do this yourself you will need the schematics and a voltmeter to start testing your voltages. your lamp is fine so dont waste your money replacing that anymore. if you would like the service manual send me an email to fixya@markservicepro.com.

SOURCE: Projector gives off pink tint

when you have a tint on the projector its not a lamp issue, it is a connectivity issue you have to check the cables if they are connected firmly, or swap the cables with good known cables , if this doesn't help you have to send the projector to infocus repair center, since it is a DLP projector this may require engine /major repair

SOURCE: lamp replacement

if the lamp warning light is lit steadily, the lamp is at fault. if the lamp warning light is flashing, the ballast (lamp power module) is at fault

My Infocus 4805 is just showing the INFOCUS logo and not showing the picture from the TV. all connections are correct but no signal....help

Powering On
  • If your InFocus 4805 projector is having a hard time powering on or doesn't power on at all, it could be one of two things. Due to the extreme temperature of the lamp that causes the temperature of the projector to rise, every InFocus 4805 projector has a cooling system. Check your projector's cooling solution, as it may need to be replaced. Also check the projector's fan---if the fan doesn't spin, the unit will not turn on. If the problem is the fan, you'll have to get it replaced. You can do this at the same place you bought your projector.
  • The Lamp
  • If your InFocus 4805 Projector powers on but does not project any light, the lamp will need to be replaced. All projector lamps must be replaced at some point---how often usually depends on how much use the device gets. Simply order a replacement lamp, unscrew the old one and screw the new one in. The projector will then work like new.
  • Color Wheel
  • If your InFocus 4805 projector powers on and is displaying images but the colors on the images appear warped or are not in the proper places, your "color wheel" will need to be replaced. The color wheel is a small device that essentially acts like a prism. Light is projected through it and it displays the appropriate colors on screen the way they appear in the original video source. Order a replacement color wheel that fits your model and use your instruction manual as a guide as you swap the old one out and put the new one in.

be sure and reset the lamp hrs. But you really need to make sure you haven't pushed the lamp connection in the lamp housing out of its cubby hole. I've seen this alot, the connection gets pushed in and when you think you have the lamp in, it's not really connected. Really the only way to check this is to remove the top cover. Before you do this though, one other thing that can happen is the lamp door gets mishapen due to the heat from the lamp and can cause the thing that pushes against the safety switch when the door is on not to depress it fully. you can power the unit up while holding the switch in with something non conductive to see if it is in fact the lamp door. anything beyond this is likely the power supply/ballast being defective, or the blower fan in the right rear of the unit not working.

the high-pitched sound is the colorwheel trying to spin up to speed. that may need to be replaced. check the inside of the lamp for bulges, black spots, fogging or flaking. if it has any of those, replace the lamp. you can get parts from an infocus service center or send it to them for repair. either way, try www.avsolutionsny.com they're really good. if you want to replace it yourself, there is a detailed step-by-step on my "tips" area. it's the same as the infocus x1, x2, x3 and sp4805. click on my picture and scroll down to tips. good luck!

    Wont light up

the colorwheel needs replacing. if the colorwheel won't spin, the lamp won't light. if you hear a high-pitched whir, the colorwheel works, which means there is a power supply issue. there is a fix for that, but you have to be good at soldering. if you are give it a try: http://www.infocus.com/service/asc/communications/tech_notes/2006/09/tn495g.pdf

SP-LAMP-LP3E powers off in 5-20 secs after inital power on

if the new lamp doesn't have a problem, then it's not the ballast, it's just a bad bulb. especially if you didn't get it from infocus. the cheaper lamps don't last long. you get what you pay for.
