either the switch is partially shorted or the pin on your headet has a shorted wire in it somewhere..try a new headset first..

I presume you are saying that you can hear other people's conversations when you pick up your phone. Nothing you can do about that - and, worse, other people can hear your conversations as well.

Buy a cordless telephone that uses encryption, e.g. a DECT phone.

from your explanation what you need to get for self conversation is hand free that is of same made with our phone i mean that the hand free most be compatible with the phone

you can get that from any phone store or shop around you note this you will have to take the(your ) phone along with you when you need to get the hand free for proper testing

its a fault try using the ear phones so no 1 will hear ur conversations

It could either be that the handset cord is bad or if the static is on all sets, that it could be a telephone line problem. In the later case contact your telco provider.

you can hear conversation and your friend can hear you = earpiece ok, microphone ok
phone not ring and not play music = buzzer broken or not connect to the main board.
check and replace if the buzzer is broken.
before you open the phone, please check the profile of your phone.

I have the same problem with the key pad beep during telephone
conversations and I hace a Uniden 5.8ghz phone.
So its not just panasonic 5.8 ghz phones that do the beeping.

If this is an old tape answering machine, I bet the tape is worn out or the head is dirty. I would go purchase a new digital answering machine for around $30

This is a phone system phone. If you can record conversations it would be a feature of your voice mail on the system (the phone itself cannot do this). If it all worked, you should have the recording in your voice mail box. It may be in with recorded messages or there could be a separate location. Example: Press 1 to hear your messages, press 2 to hear your recordings, press 3 to change your password, etc...
