I don't know what model you have but I'm guessing it is on a switch to turn the brush on and off.

Need to replace belt on orek magnesium vacuum

They make a special tool to get the end cap off, but you can use a large pair of needle nose pliers to get the cap loose. You will want to take the cap from the side where the little air filter is located. Turn the vacuum on it's side and look at the side of the end cap and you should see an arrow that is pointed towards a padlock symbol and a little ways away there is an un-locked padlock. Place your points of the pliers into two of the holes in the cap and turn the cap towards the un-locked symbol. Once it is there you can pull the cap and side assembly off and that will expose the belt. I should have told you to take the brush plate off first, there are two screws that hold it on. Once you have your new belt you can put it around the brush pulley and take the other end and rotate the motor shaft as you try to push the belt down around the shaft. It will be tight because it is not a stretchable belt like most of the rest of the Oreck line. Hope this helps. Assembly is just the reverse of taking it apart.

Brushes won't spin anymore

There is a spring that goes on an arm, #32 in the picture. It actuates the turbine so the brushes will turn when the handle is tilted back, and stopped when upright. This might be where that spring goes. You may have to take the top cover off to put in on. After you get it on, and the brushes still don't turn, look up in the square hole where the shaft on the brush block goes into, turn the unit on and see if it is turning, if not then the turbine either needs to be taken apart and cleaned or replaced. The turbine is what drives the brushes.

Brushes not turning and water not being picked up

Frozen up Turbine is a 95% probable problem. Bearings rust! Take brush block out ad insert a screw driver (size of brush bock stem)where brush block stem goes up and in. Insert and try turn screw driver. Should turn fairy easy, some resistance because gear driven! Common problem! Can buy turbine on Ebay but be careful you order the right one for your model. They look the same but 5 brush and 6 brush turbines are different. Think I paid about $36 for one and did it myself but not the easiest. Good luck!

Belt replace panasonic vac

Is it an upright? On mine it's very simple.
Unplug vacuum and lay it on floor so that you are looking at the rotating brush. Remove screws that attach the cowling. Remove the cowling. You will then see the rotating brush ends. One end will have the belt, or what's left of on the brush wheel. You will also see the motor shaft. The belt goes between the shaft and the brush wheel. Carefully remove the brush by holding both ends and pulling straight out. Place the new belt on the brush wheel and replace the brush. With the belt on the brush wheel, stretch it to fit on the motor shaft. Rotate the brush to make sure the belt is riding correctly at both ends. Replace cowling and screws.

The turbo brush attachment on my bissell cleanview helix suddenly wont spin. I bought this vacum a month ago. there is nothing wrong with the vacum otherwise.

The turbo brush may just need to be cleaned. If hair or other large debris gets wrapped around the brush, it can prevent it from spinning. Since the top of the turbo brush is clear, you can look in and see if there is a lot of hair wrapped around the brush. If so, you can open it up by removing the two screws on the bottom of the brush and popping the clear cover off, then cleaning all the debris from the brush (scissors work well if its hard to get dog hair off). Be careful to see how the brush goes back together as you take it apart.

If cleaning the brush doesn't fix it, the belt might be broken. As you're looking at the top of the brush, there is a little belt that goes from the brush itself to the large blue/green gear (it's red on some models) so that if you reach your hand in and turn the gear, the brush should spin. If this belt is broken or missing, it will need to be replaced. You can probably find a replacement belt online, or you can order a whole new turbo brush from the Bissell website for $24.99.

Bissell Beater brush sporadic

I was having the same problem with my Healthy Home vac and happened to read a solution to another question on this site posted by someone with the user name "9008". I followed his suggestion and my vac works great again. There is a screw on the back of the handle near the cord holders that can loosen up over time. When this screw is loose, the brush switch (and therefore the brushes) do not work properly. I'm not sure why this little screw causes such a big problem, but it does. To find this screw, look on the back of the handle, it's on the edge, kind of behind the hose. You should see a triangle with a Phillips screw-head symbol embossed in the plastic. Tighten this screw gently (careful not to over-tighten and strip it!). Also, not a bad idea to tighten the other screws...I found many of mine to be quite loose. Hope this helps!!

Bissell carpet cleaner brushes won't turn

Make sure you have released the handle, as if you wanted to push the machine forward. If the handle is locked upright, the brushes do not spin.

If they still don't spin, you may have a broken belt. Look carefully at the base, on each side. As I face the front of mine, on the right side of the machine, a small belt goes around one brush and a small cog wheel. On the left side, a larger belt goes around both brushes. If either belt is broken, the brushes will not spin. This can happen if you let gunk build up inside the clear plastic side pieces or around or above the brushes. It's very important to constantly be cleaning your Bissell. The belts can be ordered online and replaced. See your owner's manual.

Brushes not working

Check the filter from the bottom, it has a red frame, pull it out far enough to clean it, if it is clooged, then the brushes won't spin. If it is clean, pull the brush block out, make sure the shaft that goes up into the turbine is not brokked off, if it is replace thebrush block. With the brush block out, turn on the machine and look up where the brush block goes, there is a square hole, if it is turning, then it is ok, if not, then the turbine is either clogged up or the turbine has gone bad.
