SOURCE: HP DV9410US laptop turns on for 1/2 sec and shuts down.

Yes, there is a solution to this issue. Go to: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3308892&docname=c01087277#c01087277_identify

and look up your p/n # on the back of your laptop. If it matches, just call HP at in North America call 1-866-671-7362 from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm MST, 7 days a week. Why they never had a recall is beyond me. I have had two of these replaced one DV9743us and one DV9410us. There is a catch however... HP will only replace this free if it is within 24 months of the start of your original warranty. If it is out of the Enhancement warranty time frame, they will replace the Motherboard for $259 (included shipping, parts, and services). Not bad for what they are doing. Should there be a recall? YES~!!!

Why no sound on Onkyo TX-8011

Hello Randy Risher, At this point being that you are not getting any audio from any source, I would suggest a reset. To do this press and hold down the Tape 1 input on the receiver. While holding that button down press the Direct Tuning button. You will see the word CLEAR in the screen which indicates that you have done the reset correctly. If after the reset the audio does not return then the unit would have to go in for service. However, being that it is very old (2004 model) it's not guaranteed that there are parts available for the receiver. I would call our product support team at 800-229-1687 x3 to see if your receiver is eligible for trade in program. Thanks, FJD

Onkyo tx-sr503 volume too low

If the volume is too low on all inputs, even when you turn up the volume, first turn down the volume completely and check to see if you have a tape monitor button pushed in. If you do, disengage the button, then turn the volume back up. For more information, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

Did it ever work properly? If not, let's get down to basics and set it up for the simplest configuration it can have: FM source in stereo with front left and right speakers, no Surround Mode, no DSP, no Tape Monitor, no Mute, Volume not turned all the way down. Does that work?

Do you have Surround Speakers defined in System Setup A? If not, only Dolby Surround or Off are valid Surround Modes.

Is T2 Monitor indicator lit? Press the Tape-2 Monitor.
Is there acceptable sound other than during Speaker testing? NO? Is MUTE On?

Power on but no tuning or sound from other sources

Check for "Tape Monitor On" button. According to Onkyo's web page "Press and hold the tape button for two seconds allows the tape and MD sources to be switched - Also try the speaker A/B switch. - Check back for further assistance - The web page for your operations manual can be found at...
http://www.us.onkyo.com/download/own_manuals.cfm?cat=Receiver
Then select your model.
Hope this helps

Center screen

I figured out that the monitor has to be reset. I was able to figure it out. Turn off the monitor, hold down the + - buttons together on the monitor & turn the monitor on while holding the buttons down, you will see a message on the screen that the monitor is resetting, you can let go of the buttons & the monitor will be reset to factory settings.

TX 8410 Onkyo no sound

Well, I'm sure you've either fixed the issue or gotten rid of the unit by now, but anyway... perhaps the speaker selection was accidentally switched (A or B), or my personal favorite: "Tape 2 Monitor" was turned on. Even if you select something else, you'll still see "Tape 2 Monitor" displayed on the LED display. Hit the button again and it will go away and your sound should return.

No sound/can't get rid of "video 1" or "video 2"

I had the same issue... It turns out that there is light on the screen under the A and B speaker lights which said T-2 Monitor. This meant it was sending the sound out to the tape # 2 monitor... Hit the Tape 2 button and you are back in business...
