SOURCE: where does the tension spri ng go on my babylock 1550 bobbin winder

It may be worthwhile to purchase a new bobbin case for your machine. Trying to re-attach the spring will most likely cause the spring tension to change making it difficult to get the tension correct. Bobbin cases do wear out and really are not all that expensive to purchase. A lot of sewists keep more than one bobbin case on hand so they can adjust a specific case to accommodate the tension for specific thread weights.

The bobbin thread on my Juki DDL-8700 is loose and bunching up. I have messed with the tension on both top and bobbin and I cant get it tightened up. Please help!

Hello Lacinda have a good day to you concern loose or missed stitches please check next: 1-try to change bobbin case with new one. 2-check timing between needle and hook by -make needle bar at lowest position and you can see two mark line at needle bar. -bring the needle bar at second line from down side then check the flat part from needle comes with tip of hook ( if yes means timing is OK , if not means you need to adjust the hook timing . 3-check the ginger guide for hook try to move it foreword or backward to pass thread smoothly. if this is helpful OK if not please send email, i try to do the best to help. best regards ASHRAF ABOZID CAIRO - EGYPT aabozid@hotmail.com

How do I fix my bobbin winder?

1. Take the top off.
2. Check to see if the bobbin winder has pressure as you move it back and forth. There should be. If not then check for a spring connected to the bobbin and reset it. There will be some kind of post to hook it to.
3. Place the bobbin winder in the "off" position and put the top lid back on.
4. Without putting the screws back in move the bobbin winder to the "on" position and to the "off" position.
5. There should be pressure either way you move the winder.
6. Loosen the hand wheel handle.
7 With the bobbin winder in the "go" position use your foot pedal to make sure it revolves.
8. Replace the top.

When winding a new bobbin, the bobbin itself is breaking in two. (splits in half, the top and bottom split apart). It seems logical that there is too much tension perhaps. It happens almost at the end...

There's really no way to increase the bobbin winder tension. Check to see that you have it threaded correctly for bobbin winding. There should be just a little bit of drag on the thread as you pull it over to prewound it on the bobbin.

How to fix bobbin winding

. Put the spring on the hole that the bobbin winder fits into. Now put the bobbin winder in, but don't tighten the screw- just turn it once or twice. Put the straight projection of the spring on the right side of the bobbin winder. Start to tighten the screw. Before you get the screw too tight, pull the downward projecting side of the spring over the housing of the machine so that it is pressing on the inside of the machine creating a push to the left. Center the circular part of the spring underneath the screw and the bobbin winder and tighten up.

Wind the Bobbin
For the usual jobs, it is the best to use a medium sized thread.
2. Disengage the flywheel by unscrewing the coupling knob as far as it will go.

3. Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder, and push the bobbin winder to the right.

4. Pull out one of the spool pins and place the spool of thread on it.

5. Pass the thread through the bobbin winder tension discs, as indicated.

6. Wind the end of the thread around the bobbin by hand, in the direction indicated.

7. Wind the bobbin, at a medium speed by pressing lightly with a finger on the spool so as to stretch the thread better and thus fill the bobbin to a maximum. The full bobbin stops automatically.

8. Re-engage the flywheel by tightening the coupling knob.

9. Cut the thread and remove the bobbin from the bobbin winder by pushing the latter to the left.
