According to this site (although the parts are no longer available), it looks like the same foot control will work on both machines:

How do I find a foot pedal for a Viking Vanessa model 5610 with a power cord?

The part is no longer available from Viking. However, you might be able to buy a used one on ebay or from sewing machine parts. However, you might try contacting some of the Viking stores to determine if they have a used one from a machine they use for parts. You can send me a private email and I'll give you some Viking dealers you can contact. email: deborahcha@aol.com

Viking 980 foot pedal not making contact with machine although machine has power.

It could be lint jammed into the jack the cord plugs into. Make sure the jack and plug are both clean and free of lint. It also could be a damaged cord. If a friend has a working Viking pedal try borrowing theirs to see if it works on your machine. If not, your machine might need service.

Are you sure the cords are not broken inside the wiring? It happens to lots of electronic things.

My husqvarna sewing machine has started sewing by itself when I plug it in and turn it on. I can't stop it sewing by itself. How do I stop this I've checked all buttons and plugs

What model is your machine? If it is a computerized model with a Start/Stop button, I would check to be sure that button is not permanently depressed. The next thing I would do is check the food pedal - it may be stuck in a position that makes it run straight away when the power is turned on (maybe a small bit of "stuff" is stuck down the side between the pedal and the part that sits on the floor???).

I think also that some of the upper end machines might have settings for disabled persons and maybe yours has this facility turned on?

I own a Viking Husqvarna 6440 sewing machine. I

The feed dogs are not working in conjunction with needle because of the bulk. The bulkiness especially at the seams causes a shift under the pressure foot and the bobbin spins off excessive thread. When you get to the seam, you need to raise the presser foot so it goes over the seam evenly. Get a jeanajig or use something that will level off the presser foot as it goes over and as it comes off the seam. Also trim some of the bulk off before you fold the hem over to sew it.

My Viking 5710 starts to sew without any pressure on foot pedal

Mine does the exact same thing. I think the problem might lie in the cord to the foot pedal. The cord packs into the foot pedal for storage, which forces the cord to to remain bent during storage. I believe the wires in mind became damaged and broken so I took it apart and reconnected the wires at the spot where the connector meets with the wires. But I still don't leave it plugged in if I'm not using it, it could be a fire hazard.
