Hello Rhonda Williams,

Microwave radiation can be quite dangerous up close...

but if you follow a few basic rules of safety you can get
into... and out of your appliance safely & successfully.

Always unplug the unit and KEEP IT THAT WAY until
the cover is back on... and fully secured.

Take plenty of good photos before removing any wires or fuses from anything. Take notes too... don't be afraid to be careful.

One misplaced connection and it is a pile of junk...
or worse...

Most likely you will immediately come across a blown fuse.
It is blown (MOST LIKELY) because the "MAGNETRON"
has expired...

Simply replacing the fuse... likely won't work..
If it does...
Several vendors will allow you to return unused parts.

Just think how wonderful it would have been if you had
simply provided your model number... (wow).

Magnetron life can be significantly shortened by kids melting single pats of butter... adults who refuse to read directions or DOLTS who like to make zapping sounds burning arcs to
tin-foil, any metal or cd/dvd discs...

Their COST vary greatly by MAKE & MODEL NUMBER.

Without your specific model number... these EXAMPLES
are only that... (idle speculation: you MUST verify you
own numbers (next time put UR model number down)).

Hope this helps.

Best to have a qualified service tech check all of the door safety/monitor switches, most likely one of those are bad, if they check out, you could have a bad relay on the control board. PleazerAppliance...

The plate does not move, why

Is there a turntable button on your control console? If so, press it! If not, then you probably have a bad turntable motor or else a bad (broken) shaft coupler.

Kenmore Elite Microwave oven 63792 doesn't heat - all lights, turntable, fan, etc. work just fine.

Most likely it would be a bad magnetron since the light, turntable, and vent fan are running.

My still fairly new kenmore 1000 watt microwave appears to be operating fine but doesnt heat. What might be the problem?

When you hit "Start" to microwave, do the inside light, cooling fan, and turntable all come on?

Any unusual noises? Is it louder or quieter than usual?

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are operating here.

Post a new help request with the answers to these questions as well as the full model number from the tag on or in the unit.

A full Sears/Kenmore model number has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########

Most likely you have a magnetron problem. Easy to replace (DYI) but make sure the high voltage capacitor is fully discharged first against the case.

Light, turntable and fan don't work

Possibly the light bulb has blown, which has blown on a track on the board which has taken out the turntable motor and the fan. Also, there could be a problem with the door switch.
