What is socket on front of mirror for?

Because of distance between wall socket & center of vanity, it appears I will need a small extension cord - is this ok? Also, there is an electrical socket on front of mirror case - what is this for? Is the magnifying side of mirror adjustable in strengths?

SOURCE: My son's 960 Volvo. Vanity mirror on visor came off. Now, door chime won't stop??

If the door chime won't stop, it may be due to a damaged actuator in the doorway. Try opening and then closing one door at a time to see if you can find the offender. In the door opening you will find a small switch that when pressed, will compress and register that the door is closed. When the door opens, it expands. Something may have damaged one of these or it may be sticky. Try a bit of lube like WD 40 or something with graphite to see if that helps. Loosening the actuator and checking the wiring attached to it may reveal a bad connection and/or chafed wires that may need to be taped up to eliminate unwanted grounding against the door frame.

How do you properly hang a mirror in a bathroom on a wall?

1. You should determine where you want the mirror to hang.

2. Make a small, light pencil mark on the wall immediately above the top and center of the mirror.

3. Determine if there is a stud at that location - or is close enough to still be an acceptable location for the mirror. If so, check the back of the mirror and got to step 4 - otherwise skip to step 8.

4. Measure from the top of the mirror to the hook, hanger or high spot of a wire if one is provided running from side to side.

5. Make a mark that is the same distance DOWN from the original mark on the wall.

6. Drive a nail or screw into the wall at the lower mark. Be sure that the nail or screw is long enough to get into the wood stud by at least 1-1/2" or more. Heavy mirrors should have heavy duty nails / screws that go deeper into the wooden stud.

7. Hang the mirror, erase visible marks - Done!

If there is no stud near the desired center location on the wall for the mirror,

8. You'll need to stretch and secure a wire between the left and right-most edges of the mirror - but the left and right-most edges should be at least 16" apart for this to work.

9. Project the mark you made in step 2 onto the closest stud to the left and to the right that you can locate These shouldn't be more than 16" from each other. Measure from the floor up or ceiling down to both of these marks to be sure both are the same height.

10. Perform step 4.

11. Perform steps 5 and 6 for each the two new marks you made in step 9.

12. Perform step 7.

How can i remove the arm of a wall mount make up mirror

If it doesn't have screws at the end, probably has a plastic cover that you need to pry. If there are no screws, then you can just yank it carefully so you don't get hurt.

Cabinet style vanities are the most popular style. They are mounted on the floor, along a wall and have a mirror installed above. Here is what a typical cabinet style bathroom vanity looks like -

What are shelf bathroom vanities?

Shelf vanities are typically the most simple as far as style is concerned. They consist of a single shelf (or a few shelves) mounted near your sink and a mirror. This style is ideal for small spaces.

How do i adjust the headlights on a 2001 ford ranger

There should be two screws to adjust vertically/horizontally. both headlight has those. before begining the adjustment if there is a leveling motor adjust it to 0 position.

you will need allen wrench( 4mm). i guess it is a special type for ford ranger headlight becasue screws are hard to reach. when you have proper tool you will turn screws to find correct pattern on wall.(some needs only philips screw driver)

to do this park car in front of a nice flat wall and have 10 meter distance between. direction car should be exactly perpendicular to wall surface. measure the height of hte center of head lights.
record this. mark same line on wall at same height. then find center point of your car and mark it on wall. mesaure distance between two headlight (center to center). mark same distances on the line on wall.

keep in mind that when you turn screws center of beams will move. you need to adjust 10 cm lower than your line and you will match the direction on each headlight. here is a drawing. ( if you have 8 meter of distance you will have 8 cm difference on your line and beam centers)

Can I adjust my headlights down a bit? I keep getting people flashing at me at night. I checked it out and it looks like I am driving with high beams on.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Here's the procedure on how to adjust the headlight of your tacoma.

•1
Find an appropriate area to align your lights. The ground should be almost perfectly, if not perfectly level. There should be a flat vertical wall against which you can shine your lights and clearly see the boundaries of the beams. There must also be enough room for you to park the Tacoma 25 feet back from this wall.
•2
Prepare the vehicle for normal weight and height conditions. Take everything out of the Tacoma except for the items that stay in the vehicle at all times. Fill the gas tank and make sure the engine oil level is full. Fill all of the tires to the PSI you usually use. Finally, make sure there is someone sitting in the driver's seat during the testing and adjusting process.
•3
When it is dark enough to see the headlight beams, park the Tacoma on level ground, 25 feet back from the wall, facing the wall head-on. Leave the engine running and prop open the hood.
•4
Look at the backs of both headlight assemblies. Near the top center corner of each headlight, you'll find a small round cap. Remove these caps to expose 8mm screws. These screws control the horizontal alignment of the headlights.
•5
Look at the backs of the headlights again, checking the bottom outside corners of the headlights. You'll see identical 8mm screws sticking out. These screws control the vertical alignment of the headlights.
•6
Turn on the headlights and shine the beams against the wall.
•7
Use a measuring tape to measure the distance between the ground and the center horizontal line in the plastic lenses of the headlights.
•8
Go to the wall and measure the distance between the ground and the center horizontal line's reflection in the beams of light. If the line on either side is higher on the wall than it is on the Tacoma, the light on that side must be adjusted to point down. If the line is lower on the wall on either side, the light on that side must be adjusted to point up.
•9
Use a 8mm socket wrench to adjust the vertical alignment screws on the headlights, measuring the horizontal lines on the wall as necessary, until the center lines of both beams are exactly as high as they are on the Tacoma.
•10
Use a measuring tape to measure the distance between the two vertical lines in the center of each headlight lens.
•11
Go to the wall and measure the distance between the two vertical center lines' reflections in the beams of light. If they are father apart than they are on the Tacoma, the headlights need to be adjusted toward the center of the vehicle. If they are too close together, the headlights need to be adjusted toward the outside corners of the vehicle.
•12
Use the 8mm socket wrench to adjust the horizontal alignment screws on both headlights, measuring the vertical lines on the wall as needed, until the distance between the lines on the wall is equal to the distance between the lines on the lenses.
•13
Replace the caps on the top headlight adjustment screws and close the hood.

All the best!

Sears craftsman 3 gal/1.5 hp air compressor won't run

are you using an extension cord? if so, plug the compressor into a wall socket, if it fires up fine then your extension cord is too long or not heavy enough - other problems could be a bad start capacitor, a loose connection in the pressure switch, or a bad switch

It is possible, but very rare that I have seen this, the unit's AC plug is not making good contact in to the wall socket. The extension cord's AC plug may be making better contact to the wall socket, and the socket on the extension cord is making better contact to the unit's AC plug. It could be something this simple.

In my mind however, I sort of think that there is a very intermittent fault, and it does not show up too easily. Sometimes moving a device can disturb it in such a way that its fault may not show up (fault gets to be masked). The fault may come back to haunt you. Time will tell which scenario is the right one.
