Question about Onkyo Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

No signal is received in the optical input of a 2000 ONKYO TXD 575 Receiver. Remote controller replacement for this unit too the model of the remote is RC-392M

I have a yr 2000 ONKYO TXD 575 and the optical input was working fine receiving DTS and DOLBY DIGITAL coming out of many sources including lately my LG tv and my LAPTOP. It is now that the optical input is not working anymore, neither with the tv or the laptop. I changed optical fiber cables and still no signal. I used the coaxial connection and I DO have both DTS and DOLBY DIGITAL working correctly using the analog digital. I already did a reset to CLEAR settings and everything works correctly except the optical input. Is there any other tip I could use to check if I can revive the optical input? I also rendered the remote control dead with a fatal drop and I was wondering also if there is a site or place to find a replacement for it that I can purchase? Thanks in advance!

Hi Ben please check the assignment of that port. The port could be bad. I checked several sites for a replacement remote and they are not available. Thank you Onkyo USA

I'm trying to connect my old onkyo tx-sr502 receiver to my panasonic smart tv and my xbox 360 to get surround sound. Any help would be appreciated

Hello, Since the TX-SR502 does not have HDMI inputs you need to connect the HDMI from the XBox 360 to the TV. You can connect an optical cable from the XBox to the receiver if the XBox has an optical output. If not you can connect the optical out from the TV to the receiver. Connect to the optical #2 port on the receiver and press the video 2 button. You should have audio. Thank you, Onkyo USA

Can you use an Onkyo RC-771M remote control to operate Onkyo receiver TX-SR502 ?

Unfortunately, the RC-771M remote doesn't control the TX-SR502. It will only work with these Onkyo models: TX-NR1008 and TX-NR808. The RC-567M is the one for the TX-SR502; replacement remotes that are exact replacements are still available from various places including Amazon.com .

Since the TX-SR502 was released in ~2004, that replacement remote probably won't control other devices that were released in 2004 or later. Onkyo changed its IR code programming before the TX-NR1008 was released in ~2010 and the RC-771M can't communicate with the older receiver. The manuals for the receivers listed above are still available from Onkyo on the product page under the Downloads tab.

I wish that I had better news for you.

We have "HT R670" and "HT R360" A/V Receivers with questions regarding Universal Remotes and Android Apps.

The Onkyo App will not work with the HT-R670. This receiver is part of the HT-S6200 Home Theater package and is not network compatible. You might be able to use the Logitech Harmony Hub and app or another remote control app paired with an IR repeater pointing at the receiver. Some universal remotes may support changing the inputs on the receiver. However, I don't know of any specific model that will work. The Logitech Harmony remotes are probably the most likely to support the Input button; it may take programming a specific button to match the receiver's Input function. If you need a replacement for the original remote, one source is https://www.amazon.com/OEM-Onkyo-Remote-Control-HT-S6200/dp/B0137R62H2 . The manual for the HT-S6200 is available here: http://www.intl.onkyo.com/downloads/manuals/pdf/ht-s6200_manual_e.pdf .

I can't find an Onkyo HT-R360 listed even as part of home theater system. There is an Onkyo HT-RC360. The manual for that is http://redirect.onkyousa.com/redirect_service.cfm?type=own_manuals&file=SN29400649_HT-RC360_En_web.pdf . While this model has a network connection, it is not compatible with the Onkyo app either.

I wish that I had better news for you.

I have a Onkyo TX-DS989, I have my xbox connected to it but only the red and white wires, my question is I have an optical cable that I wish to connect to it. i know where it goes but I get no audio....

You have to assign any digital audio inputs and that requires a functioning controller.

Zoom in on the picture of the original remote provided on the site (or look at your own) and get the actual remote model number.

or check eBay: search for "(model of the device or the remote) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

Replace the IR receiver diode on the front panel. Try HERO HIM602H from farnell.com, i used that one for my TX-DS 777. (i guess 575 using same stuff)

Remote doesn't operate reciever

Hello Fixya customer,

Thank you for your question.

Please determine if the "Audio" button is actually working.... after pressing the audio button, can you still control the DVD, if not then the remote has switched to the Onkyo. Although, this is not 100% conclusive, unless you have a 2nd remote to test the Onkyo with, it provides a sound basis to proceed.

Assuming the remote is transmitting and the IR receiver on the front of the Onkyo is not otherwise blocked, likely faults include the IR receiver, input to the Micro processor, and the Micro processor.

The most probable fault is the IR receiver.

Thank you for using Fixya, and if I can help you further, please let me know.

How do I get to the digital inputs using the remote???

your unit must have the input assinged on the receiver manually first this will then be the auto default setting for that input eg: dvd can be rca or hdmi when you set the receiver it auto defaults to you choice there fore you pick the input on the remote not the signal source most receivers will then default to the next possible input some receivers have an auto signal input selection mode good luck

Hello, I am sorry about your issue. Your hook up should have nothing to do with the remote. You should get some functions like on/off, volume control. Thank you, Onkyo, USA
