SOURCE: No suction in upright position
Check the adapters at the bottom. They're supposed to move cleanly when you lower the handle. It's pretty obvious if there's an air gap when you lower the handle, and you should hear the suction in the air gap.
And...call Dyson...their support is great!

is your brush roller turning, that would cause it to be hard to push .the brush roller helps it walk across the floor.if your brush roller isn't turning then your belt is broke or the brush itself siezed up.unplug the vacuum and try to turn the brush roller .if it turns real free then your belt is broke.before you replace the belt always clean the motor shaft ,the old rubber from the old belt melts onto the motor shaft .if you don't clean it your new belt won't last very long.please leave feedback

The air passage form the brush area to the bag is plugged somewhere. Remove the lower plate and the bag above so that you have access to the air passage from both ends. A hooked, stiff wire will help pull the debris out. This problem is usually caused by delaying a change to a clean bag. A higher-pitched motor/fan sound is a clue that air flow is being restricted.

If you push inwards on each side of the light cover on top you can remove it. With the light cover removed remove the (2) access screws. Now you will be able lift of the entire top cover from the base. You will then see the belt and roller brush, remove the old belt and replace with a new one. You can get the replacement belt you need here:
