It would probably be easiest and fastest to contact your local Brother dealer. If your machine can use the unit, you can probably buy it directly from the dealer.

SOURCE: One step button Hole V for Singer Sewing Machine

Hi, I had the same problem, but I finally found my manual. The solution is that you have to use the presser foot for buttonholes but the most important part is that you have to lower the buttonholer lever. It is located right next to the needle to the left. It is a metal lever with a little square white plastic end. You need to pull that down in order the the buttonhole feature to work. My button was too big for the buttonhole presser foot, so I had to use the regular presser foot, but hit the buttonhole lever with my had to make it go up or down.

SOURCE: Attaching fit button-hole foot?

Just pull down on the original metal foot. It will snap off and then you can snap on the button hole foot. Good luck!

SOURCE: The presser foot came off Brothers sewing machine

position the foot under the shaft making sure the horizontal pin on the foot is in line with the horizontal groove on the end of presser foot fitting on the shaft. Lower the pressor foot arm and it should snap right on. If not, press it up manually. the directions should be in your manual. If you don't have your manual, you can get it online at www.brother-usa.com

Just put my button hole foot on for the first time ready to practise a button hole but it just keeps beeping any ideas?

Yes, you need to review the steps to sew a button hole, because just putting on the foot is not enough. Generally there are several other things that must be set before it will actually sew buttonholes. Download your user's manual free at the Singer Sewing machine website, and review it.

Cannot reset buttonhole size

Assuming its a singer domestic machine
1.For a 1 step buttonhole, you will need to place and lock the actual button at the buttonhole foot holder(back end of the foot), the size will remain the same each time you sew a button hole.
2.For a 4 step buttonhole, the size is determine by sliding the foot against the line/marker which you can see on the foot itself each time you start to sew the button hole.

One step buttonhole help!!

On my machines, the one step button hole requires a pull down sensor that the button hole foot triggers when it has done one side. You put the button in the holder part of the button hole foot, set up with sensor and start to sew, being careful not to touch the trigger, then the machine will sew the required length, change stitch and then do other side. Maybe there's a demo on you tube ? I hope this helps

Can't get buttonhole setting

To the left of the presser foot, there is a plastic button hold guide that must be puled down in order to sew a button hole. Make sure the arm is pulled completely down and placed behind the guide on the foot. There's pictures in the manual, or you can find the manual on-line at brother.com. I hope that helps!
