Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Humax HDR-FOX T2. Suddenly, I cannot switch it on; there is no illumination round the standby button on the front. The Ethernet and SPDIF sockets are giving flashes about once a second.

When you say flashes do you mean sparks or lights?
If they are sparks, disconnect it from the mains and take it to the nearest service centre. It sounds like a very bad power supply problem if they are sparks it's possibly very dangerous if left plugged in.

Humax HDR-FOX T2 it switches off and then powers up immediately, runs for a couple minutes and then keeps repeating the sequence. remove the power and leave it for a while it works for a few days

Presumably this is a few years old, so I suspect failing capacitors on the mainboard. I have fixed several of these with this sort of fault.

This device has a fan that will turn on when the temperature of the internal hard drive reaches a certain level. The problem may be due to a faulty sensor, fan or both. here's a forum for this hardware that may be of help:

My Humax HDR will not output in widescreen display format! Worked perfectly before!

That is what always happens when something breaks... It would help if you had more info like was there a electrical storm, does everything else work, do the lights light up... I will say this; Most electrical appliance failures are due to no power. As in the switch in the surge protector was turned off when vacuuming the area, etc. So, check all the connections to the wall and then if these are good, by good I mean you replaced them with known working extensions and check the little ground fault button in every outlet too... then get back with more info.

Cannot get it display in widescreen format at present! have tried pressing "wide" button on handset.

Try both the device control and the cable control. Each should have a menu for this screen problem.

Can I attach a Wi-Fi router to the back of my Humax Fox HDR T2 to recieve TV from my router on my main computer

No, it's the other way round.

"Plugged into a router or a wireless bridge, the box's network setup is fast and easy. For now it's just used for streaming content from your network to your telly, but there's a button on the remote marked TV Portal which hints at things to come - this box will be able to deliver on-demand and catch-up content, including Sky's online service." - quoted from the link below
