SOURCE: My brand new hitachi NV45AB2 roofing nailer leaks

Take off the back cover and make sure it's not too dry inside. Spray the inside with some WD40. You can take off the top cover. Pop the piston, cylinder, and head valve out, making sure all the seals and rings are seated correctly.Sounds like the piston is momentarily sticking. Does it shoot at all? Lemme know. Please rate me

SOURCE: why would air leak from around the trigger...I

There is an o ring that seals the valve that is operated by the trigger. It sounds like this oring is defective, or missing. Home depot or lowes should have no problem returning this for you if it is less than 90 days. it is fairly complicated to disassemble.

SOURCE: gun leaks

No it is not. It should not leak at all. Where is it leaking air from? The 3 obvious places are the exhaust at the top of the head, the nose where the driver comes down, and the trigger valve.

Why might my nail guns not work?

Have you lubricated either nail gun? If not, go to Home Depot and get a bottle of air tool oil. It's in tools by the compressors. Disconnect the air hose from the tool. Pour about a teaspoon of oil into the air inlet of the tool. Reconnect everything and try it 10-20 times with no nails in the tool. Then try it with nails. Good luck.

I have a Porter Cable framing gun with a constant air stream from the defector. I can't read the model number, but after looking thru the Internet my guess is it's a FR350A. I have used 21 degree...

Air leaking from top of the gun is caused by headvalve orings or trigger valve. Easy fix, remove the head and pop out the headvalve. Remove the orings from headvalve and clean grooves /orings. Reinstall orings and apply plenty of silicone paste lube. If guns holds pressure after cleaning and new silicone paste, order oring kit and have handy when problems start again. If the gun keeps leaking, remove the trigger valve and replace with new or change orings within valve. Good luck

My older style Hitachi NR90AD still works OK but always leaks a little air out of the very top of gun. I took the head off, cleaned, and oiled but still leaks by.

Over time debris enters the gun and scratches the metal and plastic surfaces where orings seal against. These scratches will allow air to leak past. Remove the head and pull out the head valve. Examine the metal surface with magnify glass where the headvalve oring makes contact. Remove scratches with 400 grit paper. The surface must be smooth and the oring must seal snugly. Apply silicone paste lube on all surfaces and orings (available at Lowes in the plumbing department and swimming pool supply). Also check for scratches around the body of the gun were the cylinder plate is installed around the cylinder. The gun will not work properly will small air leaks. Remove nails and listen for leaks thru the nose of the gun. Repair as needed. Good luck with your gun.

Hitachi NV50AP3 1-1/4-Inch to 2-Inch Cap Nailer Brand new gun, just bought it. Gun does not always cycle properly or cleanly cut the plastic caps off of the roll. Many times the cap just nailed is still...

Several of my customers are having the same problem here in New Mexico. If your air temperature is around 95 degrees or higher the plastic the caps are made of becomes too pliable to break off when the nail is fired through it. If you cool or freeze the cap roll, the caps will break off however this usually impractical. Get in the habit of moving the gun forward after firing a nail/cap to break the cap off. If you pull up or backwards you get a string of caps pulled out of the gun.

Duofast ms 7664c staple gun still blowing air out

This series of nailers are the most difficult to repair. Your nailer has twice as many orings as the norm. Many have said that this nailer is over-engineered. There are three areas that could cause trigger area leak. To make it simple, lets do one area at a time. Use soapy water around the trigger area to find actual leak. If air is leaking from actual trigger valve (ms719-2) and its counterpart, the cartridge (ms719-1) then these two parts need to be removed. Check for scratches in the metal of the valve. If scratched try to remove with fine paper or replace as necessary. Most leaks are due to faulty trigger valve. If air is not leaking from actual trigger valve then remove the dump valve (mn120-5) at the back of the head of gun. There should be two small allen screws then metal lid, then spring and oring. Pull out dump valve and make sure all the orings are in order. This valve should be able to move, not too tight. Use silicone paste lube on all orings (available at Lowes in plumbing department, Danco brand used for faucet orings). Reinstall dump valve and related parts and check for leaks. If air seems to be leaking from bottom of gun neer trigger, most likely problem is cycle valve (mm419-1) and related vinyl seat. These two parts are in the valve housing under the trigger. This valve also moves within its housing and seats on a vinyl oring. This part could be clear vinyl or black rubber. New seats are clear. Inspect these parts for scratches/cuts and lube with silicone paste. Hopefully you would have solved the problem with trigger valve. Good luck with your repair and do not dispare, this is one of the most difficult guns.

If it is icing over, it is low on freon. You might have a freon leak if the system is relatively new. It will take a licensed tech to check, fix leak and recharge.

couple of things there are o-rings inside that trigger assy. they are either pintched in or dry. next there could be internal rubber hoses inside the gun. might need replacing. lastly the hose or o-ring going to the back side of the ram is leaking or broken. here is what i would do. you sound pretty handy with your tools so i would get somewhere clean start taking the gun apart thouroghly noting where everything went and go untill you find the problem. but first i would shoot a couple of drops of oil into the air input on the gun then hook it up and fire a few off and see if it clears up, if not then start takeing it apart. I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH....DO THIS ON A CLEAN SERFACE WITH YOUR HAND CLEAN. i chased a leak around in a pnumatic hammer for 3 days all because it wasnt clean on the inside..
