SOURCE: I have a craftsman table

Maybe you could try using the outline of the regular insert to cut a new insert out of a piece of polycarbonate (lexan) or ABS plastic. The clips that hold my dado insert barely hold it in place on mine, and I've seen other saws that use plastic.

Where is the serial number on my black and decker table saw

You would be looking for the Model number, not the Serial number. I don't know if that will help you find the right manual. But here's something else -- a table saw is an essential woodworking tool, but without some basic instruction can be VERY dangerous. There are many sources of information about how to safely use a table saw that would all serve your son even better than having the specific user manual. There really is not all that much difference between the basic operation of any of the consumer marketed table-saws anyway.

Need to know how to change the agle on the blade for a protech 10 in table saw

Hi Ron,

You didn't give your model.

Protech is out of business so I could not find a user's guide for you.

The knob on the front that you use to raise and lower the blade also adjusts the angle. Depending on your saw, normally the knob releases from raise/lower mode to angle adjustment by either pulling the knob out and moving it or by pushing a lever to release it and then moving the knob.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

Handie Andie

Where can i find a new motor for a protech 4106 table saw

If you still have the old motor, use the info off of the motor label that describes the mounting configuration (this is the frame type). Do a google search for "Electric Motor NEMA Frame Sizes" for a good list of them. If your label is unreadable (or missing) search for the owners manual for your tablesaw - they usually have the specific motor model number.

The motor frame type is all you really need for making sure it will fit your saw - however, if the old motor was a 1 hp, and you install a 5 hp - you may have problems with the size of the motor hitting the table saw.

Also, decide if you want 110 or 220 volts. In general 220 is more effecient (3 phase is much more effecient). But I bet you'll want to stick with the original horsepower and voltage.

Then, do a google search for your motor. The frame for my motor is J56HC, it's a 3 hp and I use 220 volts - so my search is usually just "electric motor frame J56HC", but if I find too much garbage, then I search "electric motor frame J56HC 220 volts 3 hp". Once you find a motor model number (the motor I liked was a leeson 115048) then search for that. I found a great deal on ebay searching for this.

How do I change blade non model 2708 table saw?

You should have a stamped metal box-end wrench that came with the saw. Place it over the blade retaining nut, and drive the motor belt by hand to allow the wrench to tap on the table behind the blade. This will loosen the nut so that it can be removed by hand (this is a left-hand thread situation). Tightening the nut is the reverse operation and it is not necessary to drive the nut tight with a hammer--it will tighten enough during saw operation. A safety manual will say to remove power from the machine when doing this! Hope this helps!

How to change the blade? We have one wrench, but you need two correct? Where can I buy the wrench if I need one?

Well I use a wrench on the bolt and a screw driver in the teeth against
the table to stop the blade from turning.
You could also use a vise-grip to hold the blade, just be careful if you have carbide teeth so you don't break one.

Some saws have a blade lock on the motor, I don't know about yours.

I find it best to lower the blade so its just above the table so it can be held, and the bolt is out of the way of the table.

Can't Get Blade Off

without a model number I cant look at a breakdown but if it is like the table saws that I work on I would assume that you removed the center plate to get to the hex nut and spindle, if so what I have to sometimes is put my wrench on the spindle and brace it against the saw frame and using a soft mallet tap on the hex wrench to loosen the nut. After this initial blade change the hex nut has to be tight but not to the point of breaking wrenches. If this doesn't work get me the model number and I will dig deeper to try and help
