I would check the filter assembly and the drain line to see if there is an obstruction visible or twist in the line that you could smooth out. The drain solenoid valve could be faulty and just isn't opening any longer. It's an electrically operated valve that makes a rather loud "click" when it energizes to open the drain and let the water flow out.

Where is the drain solenoid located and is it easy to replace please? I am an electrical engineer so most likely have the skills:-)

Rick, the solenoid is inside the cabinet, closest to the exit of the drain line in most cases. Please understand that I'm guessing here because I've never laid hands on that model of machine. That being said, most designs locate the bracket and solenoid at the bottom, rear and I have never seen one mounted on the inner sides. There have been machines with the solenoid located up top but that was a long time (60s) & many shorted out control assemblies ago. I promise, You have the skills, the trick will be, do you have the patience? Just go slow and don't force anything and your ability will prevail. If you hit a snag, ask more questions.

SOURCE: hotpoint aquarius WMA58 spinning but

Suggest you check pump filter.
you will find it located at the rear right side of the m/c.
Remove lower rear panel, there you will see a large black hose, remove securing clip, and detach hose, the filter is located inside, remove and clean, make sure you put everything back in the same order you took it off.
This should solve your prob. Make sure the drain hose is not clogged and the outlet is clear also.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Hotpoint Aquarius WMA58 (about 16 years old) is leaking, seemingly from under machine (back looks dry), and leaving clothes wet after spin cycle. Door seal seems sound.

no not worth repair at 16 years old
its got issues with aging worn motor
not spinning fast enough
door seal if you can buy one
may not be the water leak fix

time to replace the washing machine

Water will not drain

just wait until summer because it's the time of the year that evaporation is faster, because of that, the water inside your washing machine will evaporate asap!

Banging washing machine on spins

Hi. I don't know if your problem has been sorted yet, if it has not ,then it sounds to me llke the concrete balance weight is loose or broken

There are 2 of them, one in the top of the m/c, and one at the bottom, if either of them are loose, then that is your problem.

If loose, can be tightened up, if broken away from the drum then you have a major problem

HOTPOINT AQUARIUS WASHING MACHINE.

at back, take small bottom panel off. you will see a large diameter hose going from bottom of machine to the pump. undo this hose at the machine end and the filter is inside the hose. take out and clean.
be carefull, lots of water will come out if the machine has not drained.
best to disconnect from mains when you do this
