Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: DVD player stuck in standby mode

Bad caps in the power supply is causing this. C17 (10v,470uf), C17,c14 (10v,1000uf) and C18 (10v,470uf). Replace with same capacitance values but 25 volt rating 85 C. Just fixed mine half hour ago works great.

I had the same problem. If you open the disc door there is suppose to be a plastic arm underneath the right side of the lid which when you close the lid, with the movie disc in, this arm will press through to a switch inside the machine and that will set the player in load/play mode. Memorex did not have parts for this player, so I unscrewed the bottom and one black screw inside where the lazer light is. This will allow you to handle the bottom back side and see underneath where the screen is you will find the switch. I rigged up a pin wire and did some small drilling. I was successful, but it wasn't easy. Most times I just fail and toss. I thing my son just open the disc door too much and that's how the piece was broken.

SOURCE: dvd player stuck in progressive mode

My brother came over to "help" me and we put on the progressive scan...then no picture and you can't see the menu to change. DO NOT use the solution noted here suggesting holding the stop button - this puts on the child lock.

Open the door on the front of the unit; push the DVD button; then push and hold pause button for 5 seconds or more. And progressive scan light will turn off and your picture will reappear!

Thank goodness...I was thinking my brother would be buying a DVD player - hahaha.

Stuck on standby mode I have unpluged and it still is stuck on standby

It sounds like power supply problem, I have found that sometimes the main filter capacitor opens causing the machine to fail. It will take a professional to determine if that is the case or there is something else wrong.

I have a xv n330 dvd player and it says lock when I try to take out the dvd in the player and it says lock.

When you press the eject botton while pressing down the stop botton on the unit in
standby mode, the tray lock function is activated. The disc tray
cannot be opened or closed in this status. To release this
status, press the eject botton while pressing down the stop botton on the unit in standby
mode.

Onkyo DV-SP301 DVD player stuck in standy mode

Had an Onkyo DV-SP301 that would only intermittently come out of standby. Found faulty resistor R2 on the power supply board (board ORTP-865), it was nominally 5600 ohms, measured much higher. This after checking most p/s caps! R2 runs warm when unit is in standby, so you may want to replace with a higher power rated resistor. I used same rating but 10 k ohm instead, worked fine then.

Stuck on Standby

Do a hard reset. Unplug it from the socket, the DVD and leave disconnected for 4 hours. This may or may not help, but it is a necessary step to restore all internal software codes to their factory settings.

Hope this may help;

Has it recently been zapped by lightning? Ive never heard of this happening but i can tell you its not a problem you can fix. I suggest getting your money back or exchanging it for a new one.
