I have a reddy heater model 170T ...Every time it starts and runs for 3 mins (app. ) Then shuts off . First the control panel, red lights , says it is a voltage problem it says it is a fuel problem...

DESA bought out the assets of Reddyheater when they went bankrupt, I'd check with them for the manual. Torpedos are pretty bullet proof provided they are maintained.

A shut down at 3 minutes tells me its operating out of spec for one reason or another.

First thing is make sure your fuel is good... drain it all out, check for or crud in it, as such will raise havoc. If its clean, put it back in, if its contaminated, then get new fuel... don't run the old stuff down the drain.

Next, check the fuel filter and external air filter and if they are dirty replace them.

At this point, you need to put a gauge on the pressure port, your manual will have specs on this, and this is a mission critical adjustment. If its off, you will run too lean or too rich, and your machine will shut down in 3 minutes. If you can't get it set, it could be an air of fuel leak, or it could be a dirty inner air filter, or it could be fracture vanes at the pump. You can get a old style fuel pressure gauge from harbor freight for a few bucks to do this...

the fuel line goes to the back of nozzle and the air line goes to the front.the air line and fuel line are not clear on that unit.sounds like some one changed them.also the fuel filter goes in the unit backwards from what the arrow shows.check your air need to put a gauge on it so it is correct.

If...the air pump pressure is right, the ignitor glows, the fuel is hitting the ignitor, then the unit will have combustion......unless.....
  1. there is an air leak on the pressure line
  2. there is a vacuum leak on the fuel line
  3. there is a leak at the nozzle adapter
  4. there is a restriction either in the nozzle or the fuel filter
  5. the nozzle is worn and is spraying fuel rather than fogging fuel
