HELLO
This occurs when you try to play a DVD from another country. It means that your player is not set up to read discs from that country. Look on the back of your player and it will tell you which region it is set up for (it will be a globe with a number on it).
Depending on what machine you have it may be possible to "hack" the machine via the remote control and set it to play all discs from all regions (to multi-region) it. Have a look on the web as there are many websites out there that will give you the info you need to hack the machine.
BE ADVISED! Not all machines can be hacked from the remote.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

It means The Disk Was Not Created In your country. They do this to make more money. Now if its a dvd player then you may be able to make it region free and play it just give me the model number. But if its a c.d you'll have to use your computer to make a copy of it.
Sincerely,
Michael Scott

    The Instructions I Find Say
Power On The Unit With No Disk In The Player Then Open The Disk Door And Hit The Stop Button.
Next Enter The Numbers 734466 Now Enter 0 For The Region And Finally Exit The Setup Power Off Then On And You Should Be Good To Go. This May Or May Not Work Only With The Factory Remote.
    Sincerely,
    Michael Scott

My Samsung smart tv & my dvd/bluray player recorder I bought at same time. Haven't had blurays til now & wont play at all. Rental ones did now I've bought my own & they don't play! Not tech minded.HELP

Each DVD player is assigned a code for the region in which it's sold. For example USA/Canada are Region 1 players. DVD players will refuse to play discs not coded for its specific region. In effect, this means that a DVD purchased in one country is normally unreadable on a DVD player bought in another region.

If your rental DVDs work in the player then there is nothing wrong with your DVD player. If you have purchased DVDs that do not work the problem is with the DVDs you have, not with the DVD player.

The disc you are attempting to play is intended for use in a certain region. You have to choose between getting a disc for the correct region or making your player region-free.

Reads cd but not dvd

If this DVD drive does not read DVDs, the Region setting may not be configured for your DVDs.
To changethe Region code on your DVD player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware -Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVDdrive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have beenmade.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the4th change.
If you want to play DVDs from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmwareto make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrongfirmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece ofsoftware (Passkey for DVD) that allows you to play DVDs from any region andPasskey for Blu-ray that allows you to play Blu-rays from any region. There areseveral available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free From:-

I put in a cd to play a movie and it will not read it, it tells me "wrong region".

That means the dvd you have does is not set to the same region as your player. DVD discs and players are sold in different areas of the world under different "Regions" Do a google search on DVD regions for a better understanding. Your options as I see them are to take the disc back and ask for the proper region or see if your dvd player can be set to "region free" so it can play any dvd from anywhere in the world.

Pe 705 is saying wrong region when yo try to play a dvd

The solution depends on where you bought your dvd player, certain dvds are released in north america or japan, etc, and they have different 'region codes' - meaning they can only be played by devices that have a matching code. To clarify, if you bought your dvd player in america, chances are you can only play dvds released in north america. For more information on region codes please go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code

DVD Player D1816 shows Wrong Regional Disc message

Many DVD players are preset to one region and if you use a DVD destined for any other region, the player will refuse to play. Some players have the option to change this to universal mode. Check your player's manual if yours has this facility.

Yes. You can play VCD movies and and Audio CDs on most players.

Wrong Regional Disc.

DVDs are ecoded with region codes to indicate what area of the world they are made for. These codes may be 1,2,3, etc depending on which region they are made for.
DVD player read these codes and if the disc region code does not match the region the device is made for, the player will not play the disc.
Region 1 is for USA so most DVDp players made for use in USA require region 1 discs.
Some DVD players called multi region DVD players can be set to play different region DVDs but they are typically more expr=ensive then one region players and the code must be changed each time a different region disc is played.
