have recently formatted the system
from windows 98 to windows xp after installation i found cd rom missing should i re- install it again or is there any alternate arrangement for it

Hi,
step1) download this patch:
http://aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip
step2) run "cdgone.reg"
which will clear all the filter and unfilter value from
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
step3) report the computer
step4) unstall any cdrom device from device manager
Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager
Step5) rescan all the hardware
