My xbox 360 will not turn on but the power block light is orange

Thanks for your question. To fix the 3 red lights what you will need to do is stop the heat getting to the GPU and the CPU and to do this you can use a good Xbox 360 Repair guide or of course you can send it in to microsoft.

I know its a little annoying but its useful trust me. The orange light usually means a problem with the power supply. This means WORST CARE SCENARIO you have to replace the power brick but you 99% dont have to get a new xbox.

Have a look into the usb ports on the front right of the console, look for any damage or bent pins, if any pins are touching this will cause a short, so the console will not turn on.
Or it could be an internal resistor problem, which would be best looked at by a pro repair center.

Before you try another power brick, if you are playing with a play and charge kit disconnect the cable, this happens with mine sometimes.
Have a look into the usb ports to the right of the console under the big flap,(this will be easier if you remove the faceplate) is there any damage or bent pins, this will short out your console so it will not turn on, just bend them back so they are not touching.
The orange light means that the power brick is in standby, but the flickering does indicate a short.

Is the light on your power brick red, if so this is your problem, its overheating, if cooling it down does'nt work try another power brick.

If the power brick light is orange, but no power at all to the console, look into the usb ports on the front of the console, its easier if you remove the faceplate,make sure there is no damage or bent pins touching, this will short your console so it wont switch on.

This sounds like it could be one of the usb ports,unplug the console and remove the faceplate, see if there is a bent pin, this will short out the console, just stop them touching the console will work.

Look at the USB ports, this sometimes can be a problem with a grounded USB port (2 or more of the USB pins in the port touching each other) sometimes this can happen with USB ports when an item is put in the wrong way round.

If no joy then this can also be a problem when the internal CPU heat block has too much pressure on the CPU.

Sounds like a bad power supply, or on two occasions I have found that one of the USB ports had a bent pin which was shorted to the metal housing, which wouldn't let the unit power on. So check all of the USB ports

try checking the usb is it damaged? the pins in the usb may be shorted to ground..pry any pins up and the system will work..this happened to me.
