The TV will not have a guide build in unless you have cable box or satellite receiver to provide the program information.

Remote will allow you to "choose an activity" to

Hi. It sounds like some of the IR commands on your remote (menu, exit, guide, info, play, skip, etc.) for your TV and DVD player are not correct. Luckily, the Harmony remote is a Learning remote, meaning you can use your original TV or DVD player remote to teach the Harmony remote the correct commands. The following tutorial by Logitech will assist you with this:

My dishnetwork remote control 1 doesn't work. It worked fine yesterday. There is no problem for the battery. When I want to change channel or press guide button, sat light is on but I don't see response...

You can enter the system info screen by either pressingthe system info button on the front of the DISH receiver box or by pressing thepower button once then the up arrow on the front of the receiver. If theseoptions are unsuccessful you can also open the smart card door on the front leftside of the receiver and pull out the smart card. 2. Onceyou are on the system info screen, hold down the SAT button until all modelights light up. 3. Entera number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote. 4. Remote on tv 2 is not working, except to turn the tv on and off and volume. Menu or guide will not work.

Since the remote is not changing channels or bringing up your Program Guide, you will need to readdress the remote to your receiver. I have provided instructions on how to do this. Before readdressing the remote, you might check on the receiver if the antenna (on the back of the receiver) is secure and straight up and down, not at an angle. I hope this helps.

Remote: All Other Remotes
  1. Go to System Info screen
  2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
  4. Press the pound (#) button
  5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

You're cable company may have quit using TV Guide info from "TV Guide", because they want you to get their box for this info, or to save expense. It happened here in Michigan about a year ago. If you have local ABC, NBC, and PBS stations, you can get this info downloaded nightly through an external "over-the-air" antenna.-- assuming you're in the U.S.

Question?
Whenever I turn on the television, the GUIDE Plus+™ or GUIDE Plus+ GOLD™ on-screen program guide automatically comes on.
Answer:
The GUIDE Plus+™ or GUIDE Plus+ GOLD™ on-screen program guide automatically comes up when you use the TV button on the remote to turn on the TV. There are several ways to turn off this function if you wish, depending on your model.
Option A:
Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu.
Select Setup.
Select Options.
Select Off.
Option B:
Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu.
Select GUIDE Plus+™ Auto Display from the GUIDE Plus+ menu.
Select Off.
Option C:
Press GUIDE on your remote control.
Select the Menu bar.
Press the right arrow button to select Setup.
Choose Review Options.
Select Off.

I know Option C worked for me!!

Given the many TV models, it's possible that accessing control of this feature in the Program Guide menu may differ on your TV. For specific instructions for your model, see your owner's manual.
