SOURCE: Iomega Minimax HD, no power but lead light is on

In your situation I would :

open the minimax enclosure, and take the hd out, (just open the enclosure, not the hd itself), and then open your desktop and connect this hd as slave (I am guessing you have a desktop with IDE hd and that the minimax has an IDE hard drive in it.... or both your desktop and the minimax has SATA hard drives) and then when you turn on your computer you should be able to see your second hd as a partition and be able to see the info in there, yet if windows does not recognize it, that means your hd is useless., yet remember you have to change the pin on your external hd to be slave or auto detect, if you let it as master your computer won't boot, bout do not worry, after you unpluges the hd from your desktop everything will be normal

p.d.
shutdown and unpluged the power cord from your desktop when adding/removing the hd.

make this test and fix it. Merry Christmas.
Power Supply

The main power supply is the first thing to check. Also remove the toe kick and the cover on the power box and check the connections. Also check the 120 volts in p. box.

Hi - Limit Fuse

This will fail if your dishwasher overheats and occassionally with power surges. This is easy to check, inexpensive and a quick fix. Just check the terminals for continuity ( remember always remove one wire) if you have none replace the hi-limit fuse

Door Switch

This is the second place to look. Again an inexpensive easy fix. The power comes into the main power box and usually runs to the door switch next before entering the main control module. Replace the door switch if is faulty, use the Multimeter

Main Control Module / Timer

The main control module or mechanical timer controls all the functions of the dishwasher. To check this you will need to find the 2 leads that supply the power to the control. They will be marked on the wiring diagram. They usually come from the hi - limit fuse or the door switch. When the door is latched you should have 120 volts entering the main control. If you do not the problem is not the control. If you do have power entering the control but none of the functions work properly or it does not respond at all you will need to replace the main control modul l/timer this is easy to replace but not very inexpensive to purchase. Consider the age and overall condition when purchasing this part.

Motor

The motor may have failed. If the control illuminates on electronic versions the problem may be the motor. To check the motor refer to the tech sheet located behind the console cover on most models, this will sometimes have the ohm reading of the motor. Also check each lead to the metal housing of the motor to check for shorts in the motor. If you do not have the ohm reading specicifications, check for continuity if none replace the motor Make sure the the motor is having power 120v

Float Switch

If the float switch has failed or is stuck the dishwasher control may not respond. The float switch is easy to check and replace.

It is nothing to do with the extension lead you are using, sounds more like a board problem to me, or another fault causing the lights to flash.

The power cord in my install kit for the Kenmore 1344 dishwasher, isnt color coded. The power cord is 3 leads of course but the manual says nothing about which lead to connect to the color coded wires...

It does not matter what lead goes to the white or the black. You just need to make sure that you have the ground in the right place. If it is a flat cord then the center wire is the ground and if it really matters the lead on the right of the ground is the hot/black.

Wiring a STARTER I A 87 SUBURBAN

I presume the two leads you mention are:-
a) very heavy main +12V power lead from the battery terminal with approx 3/8" eyelug terminal,
b) less heavy wire that connects battery power to main vehicle fusebox for power distrubution- this cable may incorporate a fusible link.
The two leads (as above) connect onto the same heavy duty 3/8" terminal on the starter motor.
The lower 3/8" power post (closest to the motor housing) connects only to the starter motor and should not normally be tampered with.
There should be one more light duty wire that operates the starter motor engage solenoid .- This is connected back to the ignition switch 'Start' +12V control output.
