First determine if it's the suction unit or the low voltage wiring and switches. Close the circuit to see if unit runs, if not it's an internal problem.

Central vac is Eureka Altima CV1801M. Tripped the circuit breaker when I turned it on. Discovered bag was full. Replaced bag and now vacuum won't power on without tripping breaker. Any idea what could...

Ok thiese are my specialty. Somemodels have a cloth filter, make sure it is clean. Also check the hose or pipes for a clogg. The best way to do this is turn the machine on, put hose in, if the motor winds up like its labouring there is a clog in ther hose. Do this with every inlet and listen for the same. If the vac. is hot it will not turn back on until it cools. Hope this helps, if not let me know. Chris

We just moved in - the house is about 9 years old. I have a Eureka Mega Boss central vac - looks like model # is CV20220. 12.4 amps, 120 volts. Can't figure out what type of bags I need. Can you...

Well, for this unit you will need any of the following bags,

Eureka genuine Part# 90610
Eureka replacement (Central vac bag)
another genuine bag style called CV-1, and/or CV-2
Kenmore Central vac bags

Most of the bags there are available at your local vacuum shop, and sometimes even Sears. The Kenmore central vac bag is, can and will fit your Eureka Mega Boss. Prices range on these bags anywhere from $12-$20 for packages of 3. Generally you will replace a bag once every 3-4 months.

Good luck,
Mark

I am buying a central vac system, can you tell me the better of the easy flo or nutone brand. I want the one with the least problems. It appears to me that the easy flo has fewer problems, thank you

between the two brands... stay away from the nutone. If you can get it, the Beam, Eureka, or even the Electrolux and Kenmore(sears) would still be better. The warranty would be better on the Beam and Eureka (7 or 10 and one model is even 15 years)

Good luck on your purchase.

My eureka central vac power brush turns off when pushing forward than back on when pushing back. Ever seen this before?

Yes I repair them all the time. What that means is that the connection of the hose handle to the power brush upper wand is loose. This can happen over time with use. The connection just loosens up. Do you have the exact model of the power brush?

Getting a Eureka central vac cloth bag back in after cleaning

The easiest way is probably to take the unit off the wall turn it upside down. This will give you some leverage. I would not try to get the ring in all at once, but leave a little out and then that piece that is left out you might need to bend it a little to get it in. There really is no trick that is why I am not a big fan of filtered central vacs. I prefer true cyclonic.

Continuous running

Central vacs have relays in them, some stand alone, others mount on a circuit board. A stuck relay causes this type of problem. At the unit disconnect the low voltage wires, plug in your unit, does it still come on, if it does then you have a bad relay. If it doesn't then you have a problem somewhere in your low voltage wiring. One of the outlets, the wires may be touching or there is a staple casuing a short.
