Front metal , top heating element very hot

Whirlpool Refrigerator model #ED%FHG*N*0*, Type 7 24.5 - 26.4, when I open up the door, rubber sealing on both sides of inside door are hot. Then checking the metal frame in middle between freezer & refridge part, very hot.
Top of fridge, about 1 1/2 in hot, and left side of freezer outside of door is very hot. Heating element? I am worried.
Wife of husband who is not mechanically inclined. Help.

This should be OK. There are heat strips placed behind the door frame to prevent sweating around the door frame due to the metal being cold normally without the strips. Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have the same problem in an old LG fridge. GR-486ZMQ. While I accept that it needs to be warmer to prevent ice buildup, surely it is ridiculous for it to be so hot that you can't touch it? A slight warmth could have been enough for that purpose, so I am still convinced that this is not right. At least the temp controller of that heat strip must be faulty.

Seal needs to be replaced around door. Make sure magnetic strip is tight against sides of refrigerator, even if you have to cut the outside so it lays flat against the sides.

Old whirlpool freezer door left slightly ajar.light on inside.door won't seal. Rubber on door warm.

FRIDGE COILS or door walls SEEM VERY HOT:

The condenser coils do get hot. They can even be to hot to comfortably touch and this is normal.

The refrigerator should not run constantly but shut off with each defrost cycle.

Running constantly and never cycling off can indicate a cooling problem.

One thing to try is to wait till it has been running a few minutes then open the door and turn your cycling thermostat towards the off position. It should cycle off before getting to the off position on the dial.

If it does not cycle off then it's not getting cold enough to satisfy the thermostat. This is likely the reason the refrigerator runs all the time.

A thermometer in a glass of water can be used to check the temperatures in the refrigerator section.

You can check that all fans are running.

the reason the outer side of the door seal area is getting hot is the compressor is over heating, probably the condenser fan motor to your compressor is bad.
It should be a little warm but not hot. they don't use heaters anymore ( some older models still use heaters) around the doors, instead they use the condenser coils to remove condensation and moister, you might want to check your condenser coils on the bottom or back of fridge to see if they need cleaning
If the condenser coils/condenser fan are all plugged up they need cleaning and/or the condenser may fail or has failed..

The ones that use an electric heater will have an "energy saver" switch that will turn it off.: God is the reason I give you free advice so God is good!

Why does the rubber sealer on refridgerator door and freezer door get hot

Inside the frame is a warm bit of pipework, or sometimes a mullion heater, that stops the seal freezing to the frame.

The door seals on the refrigerator door are hot. What is wrong with it. It is a whirlpool side by side.

Ok
Most refrigerators have resistance heaters around the door seals to keep down condensate and "sweating "during the summer. Check your model to see if there is a manual moisture control switch inside. You would then be able to turn them off in winter. If there is no switch, then the fridge automatically sets the heaters and you're good to go.

hope this helped

My dryer is producing heat but is not drying, i am drying the same size load i usually do on the same cycle. the lent is cleaned out, and the oustide vent is blowing hot air. why are my clothes not getting...

make sure that all the seals are ok, door, front and back drum seal, blower housing seal(inside dryer). also consider that depending on washer type if you overload or have a worn drive belt in washer it will take twice the time to dry. also make sure that the dryer drum tumble. open door, press door switch and start dryer to see if drum turn. lastly disconnect vent pipe behind dryer and dry a load. if it dry ok then you have a partial blockage. you can also have a weak heating element.

Rubber seal inside door came off-how do I replace it and where does the retaining wire/cable go?

Hi,

Reinstalling that rubber seal is a lesson in patients. There is a metal lip on the machine opening and a cooresponding groove in the rubber seal. These two need to be mated together. That's the easy part. Once together, the retaining wire and spring go around the rubber seal just on top of where the rubber seal goes over the matching lip. It will take several tries, the spring may be small but it's very strong and difficult to stretch. Good luck.

Hi,
There is a heater in there to keep condensation from froming on the metal. There should be a thermostat somewhere that controls the heat and that is where your problem is... the t-stat is not shutting down the heater...
look for that t-stat in an exploded veiw of that unit. Many parts suppliy sites have the exploded views.

Panel between doors is hot

Many models of refrigerators have a heating element around where the gasket seals to the fridge. This is to prevent ice buildup around the doors that would prevent the doors from closing all the way.
If you haven't noticed any other problems with the cooling of your unit, you're refrigerator is running exactly the way it was designed.

Water leaking from the roof of the fridge inside.

That is condensation. The rubber insulator (gasket) on the door may be damaged or worn. The door does not close and seal properly.
Make sure that nothing that is on top of the refrigerator is "hanging" into the path of the door seal (like a bread bag ponytail).

Also to consider:
Door hinge is loose so that door is not aligned for proper door seal.
Refrigerator is not "level" so that door is not ...
Freezer is defrosting (heating elements will warm up the coils, so "dew point temperature" may have been reached.

Check the door gaskets.
