SOURCE: ruud heat pump capacitor size

A hard start or turbo 2000 will not work if the run capacitor is bad. You will need to contact a ruud supply house or dealer with model and serial to find out the exact match. I have checked my sources and came up empty handed. You could try getting a 35/5 MFD at 440V or a 45/5 MFD at 440V as these are the most common capacitors used in Rheem and Ruud equipment. The key is that you will need to check your amp draws on both motors against the nameplate rating to make sure that you are not over-amping the motor. Also check the nameplates on both of the motors. Most condenser fan motors and some compressors list the capacitor size they require in a somewhat less than conspicious location on the label.

SOURCE: 6800uf/16v Capacitor?

You can use a higher voltage capacitors without problems its the value of uf that should remain the same. But sometimes you can use a higher uf like a 330uf can be replaced with 470uf but never go lower than the original value on uf and voltage. But you can safely use 6800uf 25v or 35v.

SOURCE: capacitor burned out? horrible burnt smell.

YOUR GOING TO NEED A NEW MICROWAVE . the cap may be bad but the real bad smell you have is most likely the HV tranformer , if the magntron shorts to ground there will be a small smell if you dont pick up on that and your microwave is set to run another few mins the transformer will overheat and burn , then the fuse blows and the controls shut down . the end result , you have more parts bad than you have good . if you google " GE SPACEMAKER MICROWAVE FIRE ' you will see your not the only one , its getting to be COMMON . good luck

I HAVE 1.5 TON SPLIT A/C WHAT SIZE OF RUNNING CAPACITOR WILL WORK IN COMPRESSOR?

the capacitor that is required is the same size as what is fitted
it will read as voltage and uf number
best have a ac technician check it out as it may not be the capacitor but the power board
some ac units have a capacitor that is in effect two capacitors in one to run the compressor and the cooling fan as well
best get the technician in as it could save a lot of money in the long run

This is a three ton heatpump must likely it is a 35/5uf capacitor. But if you can read compressor tag it will tell you size it requires and also fan label will do some for it.you will need to ask for a dual capacitor from supply house make sure you pay close attention to hoe wires hook up so you can wire in new on before removing wires make sure you have high voltage turned off to unit.take pic with phone this will help when you rewire

I have a 25 year old Ruud A/C. The outdoor fan isn't turning and I can hear the condensor humming. There are 2 capacitors in the the electronics box that the schematic says are running capacitors. ...

The 3 microferad capacitor goes to the fan motor. The bigger one goes to the compressor. If the capacitor is swollen or pregnant looking it is shorted and needs to be changed. If it has discharged oil it has shorted out. If you can't read the mfd (microferad) you can go by the rated tonnage of the air cond for rule of thumb.

2 ton condenser = 25mfd capacitor
3 ton condenser= 35 mfd capacitor
4 ton condenser= 45 mfd
5 ton = 55 mfd

again, this is rule of thumb but should get your unit running again.

I NEED TO KNOW WHAT SIZE CAPACITOR GOES IN MODEL NUMBER- CK49-1B

The old capacitor has it's rating on the side. If the old capacitor is missing the you will have to read the capacitor rating on the data plate for the compressor and the one for the condenser fan motor as well. Each of them will tell you what capacitor they require. The compressor will be something like 35µF.

Data plate for the compressor in located on the top of the compressor or on the side and will look similar to the one of the ones pictured below. The fan motor one will be on the side of the motor, you will have to remove the top of the condensing unit to see the fan label.

Fan won't Start. I turn the thermostat down and the compressor kicks on, but the fan won't start and get's hot immediately. Is the fan motor burnt up or is there another problem I should check?

It is possible that your fan motor is burnt up, but I would say about 75% of the time, its the capacitor. The capacitor is the round or oval component that is inside the electrical compartment. To check this visually, if its bubbled up at the top then its bad, if there are no signs visually, then you will need a multi-meter to check the mfds on the cap. If you have one that is available, set it to the mfd setting, pull the wires off of the capacitor, place your leads to two of the terminals, and read what your meter says. Compare it to the rating on the side of your capacitor. It should say something like 25mfd or 25/5%. They vary in sizes. If it's below 5 mfds than what its rated, it needs to be replaced. You can pick these up at a local A/C supply house without being licensed. You will need the information from the old one including the voltage. Best bet is to bring it with you though. The best way to check the fan motor is to try and turn the blades, if there is any resistance, than it needs to be replaced, but there are times when the motor can turn freely and still be burnt up. Just a few things to try out anyways. Make sure you disconnect all the electrical before doing any trouble-shooting and the capacitor stores electricity so ground out all the terminals on the capacitor as soon as possible. Hope this helps and good luck!

I just bought a new compressor for my a/c but the store sold me the wrong capacitor. I need a dual capacitor but don't know how to read microferets to get the correct capacitor. Can you help me?

Do you still have the original capacitor for the unit. They probably gave you the size you need for the compressor. It should have the microfarads printed on the capacitor. The symbol resembles a strange looking u. Then look at the capacitor that came with the unit and get the microfarad rating for the fan. Now you will have the too readings you need to get a capacitor. The fan motor may also have the size capacitor you need printed on the data plate. Let me know if you need more help.
