SOURCE: Connecting speakers to amp

Your Amp will be having a pair of Phono / AUX input sockets at the rear. Connect the two Red and White cabbles from the Turntable to these sockets. I am unaware of what are Pilot Speakers. regular speakers have a dual colored pair of cables coming from them. they have to be connected to the speakers Connectors at the rear of the Amp. Play a Vinyl Record, select Phono on your AMP, and enjoy your music.

A better solution is like I have mine; use the Arcam 10 connected to the tweeters of your speakers & the power Amp connected to the woofers & link the pre out's on the 10 to the power Amp. using phono cables. The Manual can be downloaded from Arcams discontinued section of their website.
This Bi-Amp method gives a far superior sound than just using the 10 as a pre Amp.

beolab 8000 speakers have a line input ( rca phono) which is switched at the rear connection, this is monitored for sound so will turn on/off on their own.you must use a pre-amp or a variable volume output as a source.

Arcam alpha 10 only one channel works, how can i check it or fix it

Swap the speakers. If the problem follows the speaker, then it's a speaker issue. If it stays on the same channel., then it's an amp issue.

Try other source inputs. Is it the same on them? This tells you if it is a source/input/cable issue or a problem with the amp itself.

Fixing it depends largely on what the issue is, and how skilled you are with electronics. The issue could be something as simple as a bad cable or poor connection. Or it could be something age related such as dried out capacitors in the power amp stage, or maybe a blown output transistor pair. Go for the simple troubleshooting tips above and eliminate any basic problems before looking at more complex solutions.

If you're expecting as "press this button and all will be well", then sorry, you can forget that.

Stereo amps are old skool. There's no resets or apps or microprocessors. If something doesn't work then it's because a thing is broken. That means lifting the hood and getting dirty hands.

I've been given a Technics sl-bd22d turntable, an Arcam amplifier and a Cambridge 551P pre amplifier. How do I connect them all together?

Depends what type of sockets these have. If the Pre-Amp has a RCA phono sockets you just need some RCA leads. I don't know if the Arcam Amp works with any pre-amp. But if it does, it's likely to have the same type sockets as the others. So you just buy another two RCA leads and connect it up.

Arcam A65 amplifier keep on go to standymode why?

Depending on the volume level and how many speakers you are driving factor into how the amp will react. Check the speaker wires for shorts, if okay! then we must look at the audio output stage, if the semiconductors are getting to hot, the satety circuits will cause a shutdown, if you run a pair of speakers the amp will run cooler, if you recently added more speakers that would explain the shutdown, if not! there is a problem in the audio output transistors and ic's that will need to be dealt with.

Hi -

Sony CD player Red / White RCA - > CD input RCAs on the Arcam.

From the Arcam Preamp Output RCA's, go to the Bose "Input". From the Bose "Output", you need RCA splitters to make them into four outputs to run your amplifier connections.clmrt5000_2.jpgclmrt5000_3.jpg

Hi,

In that case, you most likely have a shorted MOSFET on one of your output channels. The unit is going into protection mode.

This can be caused by shorting your speaker cables or overdriving a speaker.

If you have the skills it is a job that you can do but you would need to find a service manual for the unit and replace the output transistors. You would also need to check some associated circuitry.

A good repair shop should be able to do this for you but you are probably looking at $150+ to do it, maybe more.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
