Clothes dryer blows thermal limiter. Replaced and worked perfect for three days, then blew again.

I appreciate your post, David!

Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire dryer is blowing the thermal limiter and you think the problem could be with the motor or heating element. In order to pinpoint the problem with your dryer I would suggest seeking assistance from a professional technician. They will have the appropriate tools needed for test each component and this will help prevent you from purchasing unnecessary parts. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

Gew9200LW duet dryer

If this is a 220 VAC dryer use a voltmeter at the wall plug. Chcking from common, usually the leg with the angled blade, to each of the hot legs, each with the straight blade. You need to have 110 VAC in both of these. If there is only 110 at one of the legs the motor will run but the element will not heat. If you find only one leg has 110 VAC try a new circuit breaker in the breaker box. If the breaker is bad it will appear to reset, but still not send current. If you have 110 on both legs check in the dryer for a burned off wire at the timer or element.

If a 20-yr old Cybex drops dead, is replacing the motor an option?

From the look of it you're looking at a minimum of $750 to have a motor retrofitted for it. The company stated they no longer sell replacement parts for models that age. I would say considering the age and expense involved you would be better off comparison shopping and getting a newer model with an extended warranty. See:
Also, take into consideration the cost of installation/repair you'd have to pay to whomever replaced the part(s) assuming you needed to hire a professional. (In which case they would want to order the part and then there would be their mark up and the cost just climbs...)
For over $700 You can get one heck of an awesome treadmill... all the bells and whistles come with a couple hundred more than that.
If cost is an issue check out the Craig's List and such. There are always a LOT of nice newer models for sale with huge discounts.
I have to say, treadmills are the most popular impulse buy, they're bought with good intentions but most wind up as giant clothes hangers or paperweights haha!

Whirlpools Duet GEW9200LW . . . heats up but never drys clothes completely

Assuming your lint filter and ductwork is clear of excess lint, the problem is likely the high temperature limit thermostat. This is cheap and easy to fix.

Good luck.

How do i replace the blower in my haier gas dryer

The dryer, although I am not familiar with that particular model; a motor does two functions; it runs the belt, for the drum rotation, and also turns an impeller that circulates the air. If you are sure that the motor is bad you can get a replacement motor from an appliance store parts department the motors cost approx. $165.00. If the impeller is bad, but the motor is good, the impellers cost approx. $40.00. The impeller is accessible from the rear of the unit but to replace the motor calls for more involved steps. If this is your first time replacing a motor make sure you take some pictures, as you go, to help rebuild the unit.

When i turn it on it's making a skreeching noise from the back what could it be?

The most common stuff that comes to mind first:
1) one of the rollers (there are 2) has worn out and they skreech as
they're being killed. I've even seen rollers fall apart, with the outer
part of the roller (the rubber part) squeaking as it revolves around a
frozen-on roller bearing.
FIX: replace roller(s) that're making noise
Cost of part: $10
2) the motor bearing are shot - they scream as they're being ground to dust.
Fix: replace motor.
Cost: if dryer is old, replace dryer. If Dryer under warranty, use it.

The dryer quit running and became extremely hot

Hello DickandKendra! You've already done the difficult part, which was to find and locate the faulty thermal fuse (switch). Now you should be able to get a new one and replace it pretty easily, just be sure to unplug the dryer before you start taking it apart, etc., but you already knew that.

If you need to determine what the replacement part number is for your particular dryer is, please go to, since you didn't post your model number, I can't provide you with the part number directly. No problem, you can find it by entering in your Dryer model number and then click on the links that show up to locate the thermal switch. There will also be a line drawing of your Dryer, so you can search by the picture, etc.

I think that possibly that the dryer motor has failed and that is why the thermal fuse went out, but you should probably just replace the fuse 1st to see if that's the only issue. When you replace the fuse, just run a drying cycle without heat, (only air fluff, etc.) so you can see if the motor starts and runs. If it does, then the thermal fuse was the problem, if the motor doesn't run, you've got a faulty motor and it'll need replacement.

Of course, if you're comfortable with doing a temporary bypass of the thermal fuse, you can also check the motor function before you order and replace the thermal fuse, to determine if the motor is faulty. The temporary bypass is ONLY to be used to diagnois if the motor is good or bad - DO NOT leave the thermal fuse bypassed, as it's purpose is to prevent a dangerous overheating problem that can cause a fire. This is only to be done as a temporary measure to determine what caused the thermal fuse to blow!

This will allow you to determine if you want to spend the money and time needed to replace the motor and thermal fuse, or weigh those costs against purchasing a new dryer - your option. However, if the dryer is still in good condition, it will cost much less than buying a new one, even with the cost of these couple of parts.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Maytag electric Dryer stopped spinning. It still heats up, but will not spin. What type of repair am I looking at? Cost?

It sound like you could have a belt broken the part number for your belt is 33001777 the cost of this belt is around $20.00. the reapir cost should be minimal if this is the case and should take no longer than 30minutes to replace. If you are hearing any sort of low grumble or hesitation when you start you dryer it cloud be that your motor is not running, in which case it may require a start relay on the motor, unfortunately the start switch cannot be ordered by itself and comes with the motor and pulley part number is 33002478. cost of the motor is around $170.00 and would require anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour to replace.hope this helps

Dryer drum will not turn

The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch will not activate and the dryer will not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.
