If you mean the xbox menu sounds it should be under the options menu. If your xbox console is making noises then that is natural unless they it is really loud.

It sounds to me like you may have an issue with the power supply on the Xbox. If it is just shutting off on its own and it doesn't beep or put out a signal light then I'm assuming it is not the other components of the Xbox. What you should do is call Xbox customer support at 1-800-4MY-XBOX and let the customer representative know that you want a repair done on your Xbox. They'll ship you a mailing kit for you to send your Xbox in for repairs and within 3 weeks you should get it back in working condition. Sorry to hear that it's shutting off on its own, it happened to my Xbox and like I said, I sent it in for repairs and I got it back in perfect working condition. Good luck to you!
Sounds like the old brick cooked the Xbox somewhere when it allowed it to overheat. You'll need a replacement console or you could try baking the board but I don't recommend it if you haven't before.
I have the same exact problem , BUT I did a little trick and it worked somehow, the problem that I had is that : when you turned the headset off by pressing the power button. It won't really go off, you can still hear the sounds from your Xbox, even that the Xbox show you that its disconnected , there will be no logo for the headset when you press the Xbox button on the controller. Here is what I did to really turn it off. First you should adjust the "Master Volume " wheel to the end. I mean move it like you are decreasing the volume to the least. so there will be No SOUND. after that hold the power button, and it will really turn off this time , for real. Hope it worked for you :)
It sounds like the machine could be overheating. It will shut off automatically if it gets too hot as a preventative caution. Make sure that nothing is covering the vented area on the top, or if you stand it upright, make sure you don't have anything next to it, like books. Setting the Xbox 360 Console on carpet can do this too.

sounds like the start of the blinking green light and the tray wont eject, if you decided to get into it try pulling out both leads to the disc drive check them for damage make them nice an straight blow sockets where they sit and replace them true.if they are damaged replace them, NOTE opening your 360 voids the warranty
if you got your xbox standing up (vertically), it scratches your discs often. if this is the case lie you xbox down. i hope that solves the problem.. otherwise it is a hardware problem
hi MC, power off unit unplug av cable from back of xbox.. then power up unit.. after a couple minutes the xbox will shut down.. plug the av cable back in and power up.. Good Luck
