Question about GE Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a GE Adora top-load washing machine. The washer fills up and overflows with water on all settings. Any ideas why?

Its almost like a sensor is broken and it keeps it from moving to the next washing stage. It worked fine last week. Today, no.

  • You could have a bad level sensor or a pinched/severed/unattached vacuum hose which goes to the sensor device. The washer cannot determine how much water the tub is filling so the water keeps going in. I would check that the vacuum hose is simply not connected and that would be the easiest fix. The sensor device is usually located inside the control panel area and you can start there.

I HAVE A GE WASHER THAT FILLS WITH WATER AND OVERFLOWS. DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SIZE LOAD, IT CONTINUES TO FILL WITH WATER AND OVERFLOWS. IT STOPS WHEN I HIT THE STOP/PAUSE BUTTON.

There is a pressure sensor that needs to be looked into. USUALLY, there is a chamber, on the outside of the washer tub, and out of the top of it is a small plastic hose. This hose runs up to an electrical switch.
Too much soap, over time, can plug up this system, so the machine has no idea how much water is going in...and keeps filling..... Sometimes the hose comes loose, but this makes a fairly immediate water leak, so I suspect something is plugged.

  1. If the drain water is overflowing the standpipe then you have a problem with the house drain not the washer. You need to clean out the house drain or call aplumber to do it for you.

Washing machine does not cut off at the preset capacity.

check to make sure your drain hose is positioned higher than the highest water level in the machine, loop the drain hose up higher than the drain and secure it to keep the water from siphoning out.

Overflowed on Large load size

i think the water level sensor tube got filled when you had it on it's side, then after the first spin and drain cycle, the tube was again cleared out and ready for real action.
