Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

1 Answer

My Whirlpool Duet washer is only using with hot water regardless the temp setting then errors out 5 minutes in with F 05. Is there any way I can test the temp control or control board?

Model: GHW9300PW4 After testing with multi-meter, replaced: thermistor, heating element and water inlet valve.

Since you checked or replaced the parts that are most causes of the failure, the control board is most suspect. Make sure all the wiring involved is securely connected to the board and devices. I don't know how to specifically check the board inputs but usually the board gets replaced when the other suspect devices are working.

Duet. What does F8E1 code indicate needs to be done to restore operation?

Question: Front Load Washer - Error Code - F8 E1 or LO FL Answer Product Symptom:
Front Load Washer - Error Code - F8 E1 or LO FL

F8 E1 or LO FL Code in display:
No water detected entering washer after 13 minutes, the pressure switch input has not been detected.
If the washer has an F8 E1 error or LO FL error, the door will be locked, and the control will be unresponsive. The washer will start a drain routine which takes approximately 8 to 10 minutes, during which time the pump will run continuously. The control will not accept any input during this time. Please wait 10 minutes before trying to perform any functions.
Check the water supply:

Turn on the water. Check the household water supply to see if the hot and cold water faucets are turned on. Make sure to open both faucets completely for proper fill.

NOTE: Both Hot and Cold water must be supplied to the washer.

Whirlpool recommends that appliances be direct connected to the water supply for optimum machine performance.
If a "flood saver" device is being considered:
  • Check with the manufacturer of the device to ensure it will not affect the performance of the appliance.

  • Whirlpool has experienced that "flood safety" devices can interfere with the performance of the appliance. Whirlpool typically does not recommend these devices.
Two types of "flood-saver" devices, hoses and valves are illustrated below. anti%20flood%20hose%202.jpeg floodsafe%203.jpeg Whirlpool Duet Washer F8 Code Appliance Repair Forum

Washer comes up with f-05 code what does this mean?

Could the unit possibly be a whirlpool duet or kenmore elite model? They are 99.9% the same. If so, it is a temperature sensor error. If you have the unit set for warm or hot water, and not enough hot water makes it into the tub by the time it is full, the washer realizes this and drains the water, to refill with warm or hot water. If the tap water never gets warm, the unit will fault out and act strange.

If the water in the tub is in fact warm or hot like it should be, the water temp sensor should convey this information to the control board. If the sensor has failed, the control board never sees this change, and sets the same error code.

If you cannot or are not willing to dig deep into this machine, call a service tech out. Chances are, the tech can have your washer running again in an hour or two. Please mark me down as helpful.

The code f 20 flashes on my duet front load washer what does this mean

The F20 code for insufficient water going into the machine. Checked the hoses and water valves at the wall to make sure high pressure water is going to the washer.
You can try a different Cycle water temp setting. Like Cold/Cold or Hot/Hot to see which valve is not letting in the water.

There has been some know failures of the cold water inlet valves. That Whirlpool part number 8540751.
I hope this information has been helpful.
Good Luck.

I have a whirlpool duet washer that will not spin at high speed and shows error code f 06

Error F06 is Drive Motor Tachometer Error
The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down. If a failure occurs during high-speed spin, the door will be unlocked after 3 minutes. Check wire harness connections between the Drive Motor/Tachometer and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check the Drive Motor
  • Check the MCU
  • Check the Wire Harness

Diagnostic complete

Your washer apparently did not complete diagnostics. The display indicates that it stopped at the segment of the test where it was attempting to fill by using the hot water solenoid. The diagnostic test segments check the following:

C:00 - Door Lock
C:01 - Flow Meter, Cold Water Solenoid
C:02 - Dispenser Motor, Dispenser Contacts
C:03 - Hot Water Inlet Valve
C:04 - Motor rotates CW at wash speed
C:05 - Heater & NTC (Heater Sensor)
C:06 - Drain Pump
C:07 - Motor rotates CCW at 35 to 90 rpm within 15 seconds
C:08 - Motor rotates CCW at max. speed.

If there is an error associated with any portion of the diagnostics, the washer will shut down, an audible alarm will be heard, and an error (F) code will be displayed. Sometimes the washer will experience momentray glitches during testing, however. I would recommend unplugging the washer for at least 30 minutes to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). The is the main "brain" of the washer. Upon reset, attempt diagnostics again and let me know the results. I hope this helps you.
